Winkie was my first Newf. I purchased him from Sally Ralyea through a referral from her mom and dad, Bob and Anne Moesch of Wanaka Newfoundlands. At the time, I worked for a local dog training kennel so obedience was first and foremost in my mind at that time. Winkie loved obedience and had his Am. & Can. CDX by the age of 3 yrs. I then decided to try conformation as all my dog show buddies were buying conformation dogs, I couldn't afford that so I decided to show Winkie. He loved the show ring too! His first weekend out at 3 yrs he picked up a 3pt major and
2 pts. I was so new I didn't even get pictures taken!! It took us a while to finish him as he had allergies and his coat suffered. I finally finished him at 6 yrs of age the same way he started his show career with a 3pt win and a 2 pt win. He was a wonderful dog and making this page has brought back so many wonderful memories of him. |
