| Mikey was a very sweet soul and we had a very special bond. Together we achieved a Versatile Newfoundland title. He did not particularly enjoy the water work but did it because I asked him to. He absolutely smiled when he saw the harness. While competing for his Canadian DD, one of the judges was chuckling and later she told me she couldn't help it but said he never stopped wagging his tail the whole while I was loading the freight. He was a wonderful therapy dog and I'm told that the residents at the group home we worked at missed him for a long time when he had to retire due to his illness. Mikey crossed the rainbow bridge just a month after being diagnosed with an intestinal wall tumor. He was a once in a lifetime dog and there will never be another like him for me. |
