Newf Drool

"What kind of dog is it many people ask
describing a Newf is not an easy task.

For its not just a dog but a family member
what life was like before I really can't remember.

No, its not a bear let me make this clear
his kind temperament is very sweet and dear.

My Newf is part chow hound biscuits it does covet
there is no better reward he really, really loves it.

And then there's the part that always craves attention
he makes that very clear to many times to mention.

He'd make a great fire dog putting fires out
just with the very drool that flows from his mouth.

How about the part that could live in the water
and hardly come out like a river otter.

My Newf holds things down like a paperweight
a couch, a rug, my bed at this he's really great.

I could keep rambling on about this Newf I got
love and understanding to my life he's brought.

So when you ask what kind of dog I have with me
there are so many things that my Newf can be.

Newfoundlands are big dogs, usually between 110 and 150 pounds. The most common color is black, but Newfies can also be black and white(known as a Landseer), brown, or gray. They have a very sweet and easy going temperment, which makes Newfies a perfect companion for children and adults. Though not watch dogs, Newfs will protect their family if the need arises. They were bred to pull heavy loads and to be very good swimmers, they even have webbed feet. They also have a dense oily double coat, which helps to keep their skin from getting too wet. Rescuing swimmers is an instinct for this magnificent breed. There are countless stories of their heroism. Their loose lips enable them to breath while holding something in their mouth while swimming, such as a tow rope or the arm of a person they are rescuing. The loose lips are also the reason for the drool ^_^
