THROUGH MY WINDOW
I look out through my window,
I see the birds flit from tree to tree,
I take time to learn their habits,
For they're there for me to see.

The majestic Robin with its colored breast,
Hops daintily across my lawn,
With its head to one side,
Its beak tugging at worms,
Its beautiful song at dawn.

The baby sparrows with mouths opened wide,
In wait for a special treat,
The caw of the crow, the shriek of the gull,
The warblers with songs so sweet.

I think the one I like the most,
Is the Black-Capped Chickadee,
How sassy he is as he searches for food,
Hanging upside-down in the tree.

Such pleasure I get from watching them,
My day seems a little more cheery,
I even see beauty in the lowly starling,
Though a flock overhead makes me wary!

So, don't be too busy to look for the things,
That can make a weary heart lift,
Enjoy them...they're free,
Just for you and me,
And thank God for His wonderful gift.
