Eli Shapiro (Instrumentalist) hails from Chicago, where he began studying percussion at age 11 following failed attempts at cello and saxophone. After studying percussion at the University of Michigan and the California Institute of the Arts, Eli moved to NYC where he currently lives, works and performs. A list of upcoming projects illustrates his wide range of interests and experience: recording with the Electric Junkyard Gamelan, Dharmaswala (Balinese Gamelan), Rhythm Monsters (West African Drumming), a composition for dance and his collaborations with The LITE Co. Eli would like to thank his new accordian teacher, Bill Schimmel, for all the pedagogy he imparts and all the priceless stories that have changed the way he listens to music.
