Doomsdark Village

Welcome to the city of Doomsdark.

This town is nestled in the valley at the foot of Mount Doomspeak, surmounting which is the Castle Doomspire. This city is home the largest community of dark magic users in the entire world, and it one of the few places where stores devoted to the sale of evil magical items can openly display their wares. It is walled, and guarded from both the general public and the Aurors of the magical world by powerful charms and spells. These spells have their drawbacks, however. The souls of the dead find themselves bound to this dark place, unable to leave, and forced to spend an eternity haunting it's streets. As a result, the city has become a nexus for malevolent ghost activity, and walking it's streets at night is a perilous activity. In order to prevent the worst of these problems, the DeathWatch was formed. This special squad of necromancers patrol the streets and bind the most ferocious of the ghosts with powerful spells.
Doomsdarke is a truly evil place, where even the darkest of creatures are welcome. Trolls, vampires, ghouls and even werewolves all frequent the streets, albeit under careful observation by the DeathWatch. Dark magic is practiced everywhere, and zombie servants stalk the streets, mindlessly carrying out their masters' orders. Even the earth's second moon, Morrslieb, can be seen from these dark streets. This moon, which is in fact a dire portent of doom when viewed in certain positions, is only seen in the rest of the world when it crosses the sun or the moon, causing what those who do not understand call an "eclipse". The moon of doom hangs forever over this village, the stench of death fills the air, and the wailing of spirits is carried on the wind. It is a place of nightmares and horror.
Have a nice time.

The Shops

Here at Doomsdark, you can spend your days shopping for dark magical supplies. There are many evil establishments, all stocked with the widest ranges of black magic accessories you're ever likely to find. For wands designed specifically for use in the Dark Arts, got to Dieter Hellsnicht's Woeful Wand Emporium where you'll find a huge range to choose from. If you stroll down further, you'll come across the most heavily barred shop you're ever likely to see. Rashagar's Menacing Monster Menagery is just the place to go if you're looking for a familiar, only don't ask Rashagar about his "special" pets. Dr. Heinrich Kemmler's Mysterious Place of Purchasing is a definite stop. He stocks everything, from candles to corpses, from wizard's hats to weapons, from gifts to grimoires, and more. What's more, his store is never in the same place twice, and any available wall may suddenly sprout his cramped, dusty little shop, so getting there is half the fun. Venomina's Palace of Poisons is just the place to stock up on your supplies of spell ingredients, and look out for her "Poison of the Week". We do mean look out. For those of you who yearn for battle, a visit to The Olde Blacksmithe is vital, where Konrad the smith will forge you anything you ask for, provided you show him the gold first. Ragefast's Magical Games and Hobbies is a great place to visit, for here, you can pick up all sorts of amusing toys and games with which you can while away the long hours back in your common rooms. For those of you with a lot of gold and an eye for beauty, why not visit Karbunkle's Gems and Jewellery where you can find some rather useful and attractive magic items, for a price. If you seek to impress you friends back at school, what better way to do it than to get a tattoo from Zhaltai's Skin Inscription Surgery, where you can choose from a wide variety of designs, each with their own powers and attributes. If you are looking for some clothes, then head on down to Morticia's Death Shrouds and other Apparrel where you can pick up many different items of clothing. Of course, if you plan to buy anything, you will need some gold, so plan a sojourn to Ebenezer Glumgold's Black Bank, and take some out. Remember though, he is very bad person to borrow from, as his rates are very high. Usually throat level.

The Dead Post

The Dead Post is a rather dark twist on the signboards utilised by everyday people. At various points throughout the streets of Doomsdark stand solitary corpses. They do not move, but rather look like rather putrid statues, until one comes up close. All over their bloated, rotten bodies are pinned pieces of paper. These range from shop advertisments to "room for rent" notices, and all are either nailed or otherwise fixed into the zombie's body. If a reader calls out the name of the article he is reading, however, the zombie will suddenly lurch into action, bringing one of it's decomposing arms up and swivelling round till it is pointing in the direction of the shop or location from which the advert came.
Most of these zombies still bear the signs of what killed them, with some missing heads, others simply with gaping gashes at their throats or in their chests. Due to the wear and tear inflicted upon their rotting flesh from all the nails, the zombies must be replaced every month or so, another one of the DeathWatch's many tasks.

You can use the Dead Post to put up messages for others to read. Simply click on the icon below to post a message.
