At the age of 16, Vince met Linda, who was 13, in church. Vince attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina with his soon-to-be wife Linda Edwards. Vince and Linda married while they were still students on August 6, 1966. Vince graduated in 1969 with a degree in marketing. After graduating, Vince and Linda moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland, where Vince drifted from job to job. These jobs included; selling machines, selling cups, selling ice cream cones, crushing rocks - he worked as much as 90 hours a week!!! On January 15, 1970, Vince & Linda had their first child, Shane Brandon McMahon. All the time Vince had been bothering his father to give him a job, but his dad did not want to. Vince continued to pester his father for work, and in 1972, Vince got his lucky break. Vince Sr. fired one of his announcers, for stealing, and at the last moment, he put Vince Jr. in the job.
Vince Sr. finally gave Vince a job in Bangor, Maine as a promoter. The McMahon's moved to New Britian, Connecticut and Vince travelled back and forth to Bangor, being away from Linda and Shane as many as 6 days a week. Vince started making his way south where he started promoting areas, and it was unheard of to invade other promoter's territories. On September 20, 1976, Linda gave birth to their second child, Stephanie Marie McMahon. In 1979, the McMahon's bought the Cape Cod Coliseum in Massachusetts and formed Titan Sports. In 1982 Vince and Linda bought the Capitol Wrestling Corperation from Vince J. McMahon. The renamed it to the World Wrestling Federation, with Vince becoming the Chairman. In 1983 the McMahon family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. In 1993, Vince was charged with conspiring to distribute steriods to his wrestlers by the United States Justice Department. Vince was eventually cleared of all charges. On March 23, 2001, Vince McMahon's dream came true, when they purchased their competition, World Championship Wrestling. In 2002, due to a legal UK court ruling the McMahon's had to rename their company. The WWF is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment. Vince currently lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife Linda and his dog, Ruckus. The couple is very happily married.
