Saché was lost. Hours before Queen Amidala sent her on an errand. She was asked to gather fruit for a celebration. Due to a wrong turn she was far from the Queen’s transport. “Well, what now, Saché?” She asked herself.

Aliens all around her stared. They had never seen a human up close before. The aliens, the Anedi, had dark blue skin. They had silver colored hair that they wore long. They had yellow eyes. The Anedi were dressed in loose fitting white or silver colored clothing. They were tall and lanky with four fingers on each hand. They constantly examined and poked Saché. Not out of rudeness, but out of curiosity.

“Do you know where I am?” Saché asked the nearest Anedi.

“Ferl...uh...hi xel tsoo?” The Anedi said. The alien didn’t understand. With a shrug the Anedi walked away.

The three suns were beginning to set. The suns would soon be replaced by the three moons. Soft clouds began to fill the sky. The clouds were constantly changing shape and color.

“Eurt! Eurt!” A frantic Anedi screamed waving his hands wildly. Others began to scream and run in all directions. A widespread panic broke out. Anedis knocked over each other, they changed into a primitive state. If any were too slow they would be hurt. Saché was knocked to the hard cold ground. Strong hands lifted her up and threw her in another direction.

Eurt! Eurt! Eurt! The cries rang in the village and sounded in the surrounding mountains. Eurt! Eurt! Eurt! Soon not a Anedi was to be seen.

Anywhere. The clouds above ripped open dumping cold rain to the ground. The rain came in big heavy drops.

“Eurt? Eurt means rain?” Saché said to no one in particular. “What’s wrong with the rain?”

She continued her search for Queen Amidala’s personal transport. Saché entered a dark part of the village. This part was colder, colder than the other part. Shadows loomed and lurked in every corner. The rain and the fact that she was soaking wet didn’t help. Saché felt like she was being watched. By whom? Or by what?

“Oh, stop it, Saché, you’re imagining things.” She scolded herself. But she couldn’t make herself believe it was all in her imagination.

Something was definitely there. It wore a brown robe. The features where covered in a veil of black. It–no–he was tall. He looked vaguely familiar to Saché. She had seen him before. But where? Saché backed up into a dark alley. She wanted to escape this phantom stranger. He followed her. The alley held a dead end. Saché felt cold stabs of fear fill her body. She had only one chance of escape. She ran past him shoving him in the chest with her hands. He grabbed her wrist. Saché screamed in terror.

“Shhhhhh....Saché it’s me. Qui–Gon.” He said. He held her shoulders. Saché relaxed. “Qui–Gon, you scared me.” She said. She was relieved it wasn’t someone wanting to hurt her; but she also wanted to deck him for scaring her.

“Sorry.” He said. “I tried getting your attention, when you didn’t respond I thought you didn’t hear me.”

The rain came down harder. Qui–Gon stared up at the sky. He changed the subject by saying. “You know the Anedi believe the rain or eurt is deadly.”

“Is it?” Saché gladly accepting the subject change.

“Who knows. For us it isn’t, but for them.....” The Jedi Master forced a grin. “Let’s go to the Queens transport. Get you into some dry clothes. Queen Amidala has been quite worried. She sent me to find you.”

“Are you all right Saché?” Queen Amidala asked. “I became worried when you didn’t return.”

“Yes, Your Highness. I–I–” Saché sputtered. She was uncomfortable telling Queen Amidala she got lost and nearly scared to death by a Jedi Master.

“You....”

“Saché was returning to you, Your Highness, when the rain started. She tried to find shelter and wait for the rain to end.” Qui–Gon explained. He felt Saché’s uneasiness and he knew he would have a difficult time explaining anything like that to the Jedi Counsel.

“Qui–Gon, Saché said she wished to speak to you. I’ll see to it that she does.” Queen Amidala said.

*****

“What is it that you wanted to say to me?” Qui–Gon asked. “I want to thank you for what you said back there. I,” Saché laughed. “I found it hard to explain to Queen Amidala what happened.”

The Jedi Master smiled. “I would have the same problem. Only it would be much harder to explain this to the Jedi Counsel.”

Saché smiled and gave Qui–Gon a firm hug. She kissed his cheek. “Thanks.” She said. Her smile lasted until she reached the door. Qui–Gon could have swore that was the last thing he saw before she disappeared behind the door.

END.
