Obi Wan looked up from where he had been busy staring for the past fifteen minutes. He was in deep trouble. Qui Gon wouldnt be happy. He looked down and stared at the broken pot and cold soup that hadnt finished cooking. How was he supposed to become a Jedi Knight if he couldnt even handle cooking dinner? He grabbed a rag, knelt down and began to clean up the mess he made. He was picking up the pieces of broken pottery when he cut his thumb on a sharp piece. He quickly stuck his thumb in his mouth and looked at the sharp pottery piece accusingly.

He withdrew his thumb and examined it. He was going to have to use bacta. Again. He felt so clumsy. He stood and walked over to the small bacta tank he kept handy, the pottery scattered across the kitchen floor momentarily forgotten. He slowly applied the bacta and watched it heal his deep cut in fascination. He had always loved watching it work. His cut now healed he went back to the task at hand. He knelt down and picked up the remaining pieces quickly and surveyed the kitchen, satisfied with his cleaning he pulled out a new pot and started over on dinner.

He didnt let his mind wander,he focused so much on cooking he felt as if he were going to get a headache. He was just adding the finishing touches when Master Qui Gon walked through the door. He didnt look happy. Qui Gon strode over and collapsed into a chair,he looked as if he were about to cry. Needless to say Obi Wan was shocked.

"Master? Are you allright?" he asked carefully, putting the hot pot on the table. Qui Gon glared at him,his eyes bloodshot and straining to keep open.Obi Wan avoided his glare and got out two bowls setting one in front of Qui Gon and one at his own place.

"Obi Wan if you dont mind I think I'll skip dinner tonight and go straight to bed." Qui Gon said. The question was really a statement, he didnt care if Obi Wan minded.

Of course he minded! He had worked for three hours straight and broken two pots cutting himself once. He was nearly eighteen and he could barely cook and it seemed whenever he did his master skipped dinner.

"Not at all Master you look as if you could use the rest. " Obi Wan said looking down, his teeth clenched in defeat.

Qui Gon got up from the table and slowly dragged himself into his sleeping area. Obi Wan slipped into his seat silently, he wasnt sure if his master even knew how much he was hurting him. Something was up but Qui Gon wouldnt tell him despite the four years they had spent together.

Qui Gon was like his father, he could tell him anything.

Obi Wan had just naturally expected Qui Gon to feel the same way. Perhaps he was wrong,or worse yet perhaps Qui Gon's problems were with him. Obi Wan mentally scolded himself. Being paranoid wasnt going to help matters any. Obi Wan ate in silence, not bothering to clean the dishes he decided to go for a walk.

He was halfway to the meditation chambers when he decided to instead go to the gardens. He wasnt sure why. When he arrived in the gardens he was almost relieved to see the gardens were empty. He walked in and looked around in awe at the many different plants.

This was the one place in the temple he had not visited since he had become a padawan. A lot had changed since then.He sat down on a bench and gazed at one particular flower. The stem was dark green but the leaves were a frosty blue and the flower was silver. It was growing in a bush like form. The leaves themselves were so intricate they couldve been flowers alone.

"Do you like it?I planted it myself. Its called a Hokathian Night Bloom." a voice said from behind him. He turned and looked at the person who had somehow entered without him knowing.

It was a girl, she was Hokathian herself. Her delicate features matched the flowers. Her hair was silver and flowed down well past her shoulders to the small of her back. Her skin was such a pale shade of blue he couldve mistaken it for white. Her eyes were the same dark green as the stem of the flower. He was surprised a Hokathian was in the temple and from her state of dress she was a padawan. Hokathians rarely had force sensitive children and when they did they were burned at the stake, accused of being witches.

The Hokathian girl grinned then threw her head back and laughed. "Am I that odd looking?" she asked in amusement. "No, no its not that at all its just I have never seen a Hokathian at the temple before." he explained fearing she would be angry and go away, the girl like many other Hokathian's radiated warmth, happiness and wisdom. She looked at him questioningly for a moment then sat down on the bench beside him. She put her hand over his, radiating waves of comfort.

"What is wrong Obi Wan?"she asked staring at the Night Bloom as well. Obi Wan looked at her surprised that she knew his name.He then looked back at the Night Bloom, it was unfolding even more with glowing yellow pollen floating out of it like sparks from a fire. He realized that the girl was helping it to spread pollen using her force abilities. She probably used the same abilities to float objects and read minds easily.

"I'm not sure, its my master.....lately he seems to avoid me and he always has bloodshot eyes and he is constantly tired but he wont tell me what is wrong. How am I supposed to help if I dont know whats wrong? "Obi Wan said in frustration, wondering why he was telling her this. He didnt even know her name.

"Have you ever considered that maybe you cant help him with this problem?"she said causing him to nearly fall of the bench. He looked at her in disbelief.Of course he could help Qui Gon.Couldnt he? He looked at her and smirked.

"That could be but I doubt it. We've been through to much together for me to be unable to help him with whatever is troubling him. What is your name?" he asked, he was certain Qui Gon would tell him sooner or later. He was just grateful she had been there to talk to so he hadnt fallen into another pit of despair.

"Anya" she said in her clearly Hokathian voice which sounded like a music box. Hokathians were quite peaceful and primitive but it was by choice that they lived that way. They did not want money or evil to corrupt them as a nation. Obi Wan figured since she hadnt been burned she had probably been banished from her people. She was so small though,to banish such a harmless and tiny being,he couldnt understand why anyone would do such a thing.

He remembered then that all Hokathians were small she was actually considered big by Hokathian standards. He had always remembered Hokathians having bluer skin though and thir ears were pointed, like elves he had thought them cute little creatures but Anya had almost human features. Her nose was pointed and tiny like a Hokathian but her ears werent pointed plus he was just guessing that she didnt the signature gossamer wings of the Hokathians.

"You're right Obi Wan I am not a regular Hokathian, I am half human." she stated simply.

Now he understood, if one of her parents had been even a little force sensitive she would also be born that way and that would explain her powers and he had to admit if she had been fully Hokathian it would've been quite interesting speaking with her.Hokathians only spoke telepathically.

"For such a young human you sure know a lot about my mothers people." Anya said sounding a little annoyed.

"I'm not that young,I am eighteen standard years." Obi Wan answered quickly.

Anya grinned. "Older than me,I'm only seventeen but why do you know so much?"she asked curiously. It was Obi Wans turn to grin, was that jealousy he heard in her voice?

"My master and I spent a few seasons on Hokathia for a diplomatic mission. The Hokathians agreed to let us hold the peace talks on their planet when the Skirindian and the Rezakians were at war.
