School Focus
This group is gathering the options for school focus, including the 3 Rs, Gifted and Talented Center, magnet programs, language immersion programs, core knowledge curriculum, and fine arts emphasis. Jane Strauss, our school board representative, is discussing these topics and more within county and will hear from this committee.
While Jane Strauss, our school board representative, indicated that which programs are put in the new school is an internal decision, we want to influence this decision. Mrs. Strauss indicated that the county will try to decide by September or October of 2002 - before the boundary process is completed. This means that we have to get input from parents of potential students now!

The new elementary school is just down the street from Wolftrap Foundation and the new education center being build behind the Barns. The committee has met with county reps to explore building a possible partnership with the Wolftrap Foundation, as well as other potential partners which are still being identified. Input will be solicited from parents of potential students to determine what partnerships the parents would find valuable.
