A Chronology of Scott Smart's Life

August 26, 1893, born as John Scott Graves Smart, son of Charles Henry Smart.

October, 1912, baptized at Hites Run Baptist Church, at the age of 19.

June 27, 1915, married Maggie Deleane Smith.

February 24, 1923, elected deacon at the Hites Run Baptist Church.

1947, moved to the Clover Creek Community, purchasing land near the church and farming for a living.

February 16, 1947, during a service with Bro. D. A. Meador, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Smart received into membership, with a promise of letter from the Hites Run Baptist Church.

April 20, 1947, Hites Run Baptist Church granted membership letters of Mr. and Mrs. Scott to unite with New Clover Creek. Mr. Smart will retain his status as deacon in this church.

November 16, 1947, elected Sunday School Superintendent.

November 13, 1954, elected moderator for the 1955 calendar year.

December 31, 1978, wife, Maggie, died.

August 26, 1993, his 100th birthday, celebrated at New Clover Creek on August 28, 1993.

October 6, 1996, death, believed to be the oldest serving (103 years) deacon in Kentucky and the longest-serving (73 years) of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
