Sleeping Beauty

In a story reminiscent of the public's attitude towards royalty today, Prince Ferdinand of Saxonia must find a bride so that his popularity is not overshadowed by that of his cousin Gerzell, who would take Saxonia into war if he were crowned King. His mother the Queen, and the Chancellor, are at a loss as to who the Prince should marry, but the Fairy Appleblossom has plans to pair him off with the Princess Adora. She was put to sleep many years ago, along with the rest of the kingdom of Miltonia, by the wicked Fairy Almitira. Adora will only awaken if she is kissed by someone who is fearless and has never loved. The Prince decides to go and find and waken Adora after being shown how Miltonia was put to sleep in a play...

"The Prince comes of age in a few weeks. He must take his place as the head of his people, and they are already showing that they are quite dissapointed in him. For one thing they insist it is his duty to marry."

"I am the Fairy Appleblossom. I would
like to help your son."

"Everyone who has been invited to the christening is present." - "No-one was left out, surely?"
- "Well, at the last minute I decided not to invite Fairy Almitira."

Queen Windolene and King Rudolpho bake a sunshine cake for Princess Adora's 20th birthday.

"I am sorry, but you do not understand how
much I want to go out of doors." Adora has
been kept indoors so that she would not prick herself on anything.

"I think I can diagnose the case of the Princess with considerable accuracy." - "Yes, yes?"
- "She is asleep."
Adora is tricked into pricking her finger.

"Mother, the Princess, is she only fantasy?
No, she is real, I know it. My heart tells me that she is real. How can I find her?"

Did someone say 'Arthur Mo'?

"Who were the strangers with the Queen and Chancellor?" - "Best not to say, do you think?"
- "Best not. It's dangerous to talk."

"I wonder if you have any idea how happy it makes me to see you here in my home. I always thought this big place was gloomy and cold, tonight it seems bright and joyous."

"Today I am awake and happy. I want you
all to share with me this happiness and love."
Adora and Ferdinand celebrate
before their wedding day.
