Our History
New Beginning
Baptist Church
. . .where anyone may begin again.
117 Charles Road * King, NC  27021
On November 14, 1993 a group of individuals felt called out of an existing church to form a new congregation that would meet the needs of the surrounding community in the twenty-first century.

New Beginning Baptist Church was constituted on April 10, 1994 at its sponsoring church, First Baptist of Walnut Cove.

In January 1995 approximately twelve acres were purchased on Charles Road in King, North Carolina, for the future church building site.

The first worship service on the property was an Easter Sunrise Service on April 16, 1995.

On June 25, 1995 a Ground Breaking Service was held in which the congregation was reminded of Phillippians 4:13- "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  The moving of God's hand through fellow Christians led to the labor of many people from the heat of summer to the chill of winter to build a new house of worship.

The first service was held in the new building on December 3, 1995.

The first baptismal service was held January 28, 1996.

A dedication of the new building was held March 3, 1996.

Our deacon ministry was introduced in October of 1997.   Over a span of three and one-half years, twenty-one baptisms were celebrated.   Three members were licensed and named as assistant ministers as they embraced the call of God to full-time ministry.

On May 1, 2000 Rev. David Coburn took over the position of interim pastor.

In June 2001 Rev. David Coburn was voted in as pastor.  In the same month the Young Adult Ministry began.
