Part 3: now heres where things really get weird. i have seen this one twice. but once was in spanish. i dont speak spanish. i just like watching movies in spanish. (wierd, eh?) i also watched it in english. its better in spanish. this movie isnt at all related to the others
Last weekend i watched halloween 2-5 in a row. yup all of em...i know, im a masicist. but theirs something oddly stiring and intresting in these exploitation movies. somthing compling...somthing like...a spark of sorts. ive seen all but the last 2 so ill summerize them now.
PART 1: this was the original, it was made by John Carpenter for jsut about jack-s**t. it made oodles and oodles of money for 2 reasons. it was original. it was quite literally THE FIRST slasher film EVER. and 2 because it was actually very good! it was taunt and tense. very very well made alas the ending was rather flat. and there is one unintentanally hallarious scene in which our heroin is hiding from THE SHAPE aka Michel Myers in a closet. he enters the room and she stabe him in the nose with a close hanger when he enters the closet in order to defend herself! it was SOOO funny! and it apparently killed him...but then he got up. another flaw is that the movie does things to kill Myers like 7 times but he just doesnt die. and then the final payoff is really weak. but over all...B+
Part 2: this one is...odd. it at least TRYS to have an intersting story that matches the first in shocks in tention while uping the antie because our heroine is already badly injurd and almost dead. you see, it takes place hours (at most) after part one. however Carpenter was not in on this one so instead of the build up to almost bloodless payoff death. this one goes for all out blood and guts. and this destroys the film! it takes away all tension and any care for characters and replaces it with pointless blood and nudity. the deaths are riduculus but the ending is good and sorta kills off the original herion leaving us with the much cooler and more interesting new hero with depth and issues.. myers apears dead at the end. d+
