Deeply situated Energies
There are four types of forces in the matter.

1.Gravitational   2.Weak   3.Electromagnetic   4.Nuclear ("Strong")

We find here an interesting pattern.  As the force is stronger, it dwells at the more inner levels of the matter and its range is more confined in the space.  Obviously as the force is stronger, it generates greater energetic effects.  The most intimidating evidence of these forces is the nuclear bomb which releases enormous amouts of energy.  This enormous energy comes from the deepest levels of matter possible to our reach today.  The nuclear force is found within the nucleus of an atom which is located at the very tiny center of the atom and that force's domain is confined to the minute gap between protons.

The same pattern appears in the mental world.  The various religions move some psychological and mental chords which are deeply situated inside all of us.  As such, the religions have been very powerful motivators for the human kind.  They have brought terrible wars and vicious acts as well as most noble deeds - all in the name of religion.  The religions have been able to release enormous mental energies which have brought very extreme consequences.  They have motivated men to kill and to be killed for their religious beliefs.  But they have also motivated many to render enormous compassions to others and to grant endless help to the fellowman.

When we try to observe closely what is that actually in religions which causes us as humans to react so erratically and emotionally, we feel it is something that shakes some deep values related to the foundations of our existence.  Let it be those who believe god or those who do not; both feel that the principals involved are crucially important to the way each one of us lives his\her life.  If one accepts certain religious principals which are different than those he\she once believed, it brings a total profound change to the whole way of his\her life.  And if one is forced to accept those religious principals which he cannot agree with, it creates within him extreme counter reaction against that imposition as he feels it will shatter some very basic existential principals which he is living accordingly.  That by accepting those principals which he cannot agree with them, he would turn into something which he cannot be.  That his existence will become worthless. As if he will cease to exist.

The same thing happens in the nuclear reaction which liberates such enormous amounts of energies.  In that reaction the matter goes through a fundamental change in which its most basic structure is changed irreversibly.  That element which is involved in the nuclear reaction, is converted into completely different element.  This most fundamental change as said above, releases enormous amounts of energy.

In both the mental and the material worlds, it is extremely essential to know how to handle those processes which bring such revolutionary change in the fundamentals of their subjects.  A careless handling due to ignorance or a malicious handling due to evil intensions, cause in both worlds horrible consequences bringing enormous destruction.  Dealing with religious theories and principals without the proper understanding of the issues concerned with, exactly like handling nuclear reactions without the proper knowledge, skills and intentions, has brought in the past and will bring in the future most hazardous consequences.

In the both worlds - the material (sub-atomic) world or the mental world, shaking the inner levels of each of them bring extremely profound changes in those worlds.  These profound changes related with the deepest inner levels of each world, liberate enormous amouts of typical energies causing extreme consequences.  This is a remarkable similarity in the patterns of behavior of what seem us to be two completely different and seperated domains - the physical domain and the psychological domain.

This is one more evidence for what has been mentioned in the book of "The Tao of Physics" by Fritjof Capra regarding the similarity in patterns of the material and the mental worlds.
