| The following is from The Encyclopedia of Health: Depression, by Dianne R. Hales: --Developmental traumas of childhood, particularly the death of a parent at an early age, can increase susceptibliity to depression. Neglect, abuse, and seperation from a parent because of illness or divorce can trigger childhood depression and increase the risk of depression in adulthood. Cody's father died when he was about five, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a seperation from a dearly loved one. I bet that some of you are thinking, "Yeah, that happened. But what are the signs that Cody has depression?" Well, read on and find out! |

Individuals who feel unable to express the normal anger that develops in daily living- often because they fear rejection- may turn that anger on themselves. This allows them to acknowledge their rage and at the same time to punish themselves for their "unacceptable" feelings. Cody has surpressed anger. First, he was mad at the Digimon Emperor, then at Ken, then at Oikawa, then... Well, then someone. Sure, he expressed it of course, but remember that one episode, where he thought, "I shouldn't have said anything. Now they'll laugh and make fun of me." Or something to that like? Now this is Anime people! Things are always blown out of proportion!! He probably hates himself and wishes he could grow up, but he won't be able to since he hates himself!! | The following is from The Encyclopedia of Health: Depression, by Dianne R. Hales: --...between 6-10% of children ages 6-12 have experienced at least one episode of major depression. Although they rarely announce, "I'm depressed," they do sometimes complain about being bored and whine or fidget a lot. Often, these youngsters have low self-esteem, poor social skills, and tend to withdrawl or be aggressive and angry. Cody shows these signs as well. Okay, so he doesn't go "I'm bored!", but he does happen to have a poor social background. Look at his friends; Armadillomon and the other DigiDestined! You don't see that he has friends his OWN age, do you? He never made those friends by himself, he was thrusted into this! Yolie probably came up to him and said "Hey, wanna be friends?!" And he reluctently agreed!!He also has low self-esteem, not talking much OR voicing out his opinions although everyone tells him that his opinions are valued. But he dun believe dat! He also withdrawls during social functions. Does he play soccer? Is he part of a computer club? Does he spend time doing after school activities other than saving the Digital World and Kendo Practice? No, he doesn't. o_O? I mean, he hangs out with his Grandfather most of the time... WHICH ISN'T BAD!! *hugs her grandfather* I luv mah Pappy!! *ahem* Thus concludes my personal believe that Cody is a depressed child. |
