Drunken Master

Directed by: Yuen Woo Ping

Like I've said in the past,  I'm a HUGE Jackie Chan fan.. This film is considered by most, to be his best film.. Made in 1979, this was his first true foray into asian super-stardom. "Snake in Eagle's Shadow" set him up, and this movie rocketed him to #1. This movie has the perfect blend of Comedy, and Action, along with superior fight choreography by none other than Yuen Woo Ping. ( The Matrix, Budhist Fist,  Drunken Master 2 ) In my humble opinion, He's the one that made the "Matrix" what it is today.
Anyway..

The story starts out With a hired assasin named "Thunder Foot" beating up and killing another man named "Charlie Way" ( I don't make these names up people..) This Introduces the character "Thunder Foot" which plays a big part later in the story.

Jackie Plays a character named "Frankie Wong" who his classmates lovingly call "Dragon Nose"
( ^o^ ). Frankie thinks he is a master at Kung Fu, and flaunts it by harassing and insulting his teacher. During a really truly funny set events, Jackie is disowned by his father, and is sent to live with Sam Seed (played by the "legend" Simon Yuen)
Frankie heard terrible rumors about Sam and decided to run away. He ends up in a restraunt, and tries to con a meal out of one of the patrons. This man turns out to be the owner of the place and Frankie gets beaten up pretty badly.. Then out of nowhere a man saves him, and they escape into the woods. This man is no other than Sam Seed. thus starting the training. Frankie doesn't like the training, so he tricks Sam, and runs away. He ends up at an old cemetary, and accidently starts a fight with "Thunder Legs".. Frankie basicaly gets his ass handed to him here and learns that he really does need more training.

This started an awesome series of training sequences which looked as much painful as they just looked damn cool.

Once trained, Frankie goes and beats up the people that picked on him. nuf said ( what do you expect from a Kung Fu flick, hehe )
I have to say that the fight versus the "Stick King" was my favorite. There is some CLASSIC Jackie chan in this scene, some acrobatics, some benchwork, and that unbelievable energy that is felt when watching a J.C. film. The end fight versus Thunder Foot was good too.. In it's own sense.

If you've read this than you know I loved this movie.. the only thing I didn't like is the fact that I have the dubbed version, and I think names were changed.. *shrugs*

Also note that this movie doesn't really have anything to do with Drunken Master 2, Just Jackie Chan kicking ass with the drunken gods stance, and choreography by Yuen Woo Ping.
