Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows
Directed by: Joe Berlinger
Circa: 2000
Runtime: 90 mins

It's going to be hard to review this movie without giving too much away. I know in other reviews, I just blab the entire plot, but in this one, the main draw is to see what it's even about.

I know alot of people heard the premise, and thought it would be pretty lame. Infact alot of people thought the first movie was lam period. The fact is, the first movie is ingenious. Box office gross shows that. People also thought that this movie was made just to cash in on the success of the first. The fact of the matter is that this film has little or nothing to do with the first, and could have done fine on it's own.

The movie starts off really creepy and unsettling. after a shocking minute or two, we get to see  whole slew of parodies of the first film. Everything from the news casts, to the townfolk talking about the disturbance the first movie caused.

Storywise, This movie is kind of weak.. Let me tell you right now, there is NO book, NO witch, unless you count Tristen, And the subplots arn't explained AT ALL.. There is however, alot of creepy images, and a few scares.
As most of you know, it's about of group of people that go up to the black hills and camp out at the house of the supposed man who killed a bunch of children in the past. When night falls everything seems pretty normal, until they meet another group of tourists. This was a pretty funny scene, and I felt simmered any tension you had of something bad happening. Right after this is where all the weird shit takes place.. The group at the ruins of the house wakes up, and all of the two researcher's researxh papers are torn to shreds and almost raining down on them as the wake up. The tourguide's camera's are all destroyed too. they only find the tapes. When they go back to the guides "house" Then all the really freaky things begin to happen.

One thing that pissed me off however was the totally unclear plot that this movie was KIND of following. They introduced alot of new Blair witch lore, but most didn't have anything to do with the movie. They also didn't really explain what happened at coffin rock. I'm not dumb, I know what happened, they just never explain why exactly it happens...

The soundtrack to this movie rocks though.. The song that sticks in my mind the most is the Marilyn Manson song that played during the credits.. Another kick arse song was Queens of the Stone Age's "Feel good hit of the summer" it's a very cool song with a very cool hook line.

Overall.. I was a tad disappointed. It had a VERY very lackluster ending.. I was expected some big twist at the end, but the end was both predictable, and boring. It left me feeling like "Is that it?"
The movie is a bit gorier than the first, and has more creepy visuals, so It wasn't all bad. If you liked the first, I'll say check it out. If you havn't seen the first.. Check it out also.. They explain the whole plot to BW1 in the beginning.
