Well, here's another example of what everyone is raving about, "Italian Horror" I really don't understand what everyone is all excited about.. Bad electronic music? Horribly dubbed voices? Or is it the effects?.. Yep.. probably the effects. They are pretty gory and SOMETIMES quite realistic.
This movie is sometimes called "Zombie 2:The Dead Are Among us", although it's original title is "Zombi". From what I understand, and people don't skewer me if I'm wrong. Lucio Fulci took Romero's masterpiece  "Dawn of the Dead" and re-edited it. Then he called his movie "Zombie 2" trying to buy in on the whole zombie craze of the late 70's. The neat thing is that if you watch This movie, then watch "Night of the Living Dead" THEN watch "Dawn of the Dead". It all fits together rather nicely.

The story starts out in NewYork harbor, (suprise suprise) with a supposably abandoned boat, and some cops getting messed up real good by a big fat zombie.

It turns out that the ship belonged to a famous scientist, which spurts the intrest of a local paper. They send Peter West to investigate, this is where he meets Ann, the scientist's daughter.. She too was investigating her father's disappearance. After some talking, they decide to help each other.

On their journey to the Antilles they meet up with Brian and Susan. They ask for their help and suprisingly.. they say ok. During this part of the movie we get to see Susan scubba dive "buck-ess-neked", which makes me wonder if that tanks caused any chafing. Especially the straps which were in a very bad spot..  While underwater she's attacked by a shark eating zombie, which in my opinion shouldn't even be in the movie.. It's a laughable scene though.

When they finally get to the island, this is where the pace picks up considerably. They find the body of some woman being eaten by some zombies. The effects here were really good, and gave a nice morbid feel that set in for the rest of the movie. They kill the zombies and run out to their trusty jeep. While trying to escape they swerv off the road avoiding a zombie, and crash the jeep. They end up in some ancient graveyard, and as you probably guessed, zombies come.. The diffrence about this zombie movie is that the zombies actually look pretty cool..  And when they tear into someone's flesh to remove his fleshy goodness, that's exacty what it looks like.

Anyway.. the few survivors retreat to an old church where the doctor's assistant and his nurse are trying to help the last few "living people of the island of Matul. All the zombies come, bad things happen, and basically everyone dies..

The ending is especially cool since I love movies where the Bad-Guy wins.
*evil grin*

Overall I liked this movie, I own a copy, and I've watched it a few times with friends etc.. It DOES have some cheesy scenes though, Like the mentioned "shark attack" scene or the "eye gouge" scene.
but for the day, I guess I should go easy on them...

Lupin-III

Lupin's Death Count
Well since the Zombie take over.. EVERYONE dies.. the body count would be too long for my measly geocities account to mention.. so I'll just mention a few.

1 Eye gouge
1 Leg bite
1 Underwater zombie
1 Fat zombie
1 Dead cop

Countless maggots, worms, Ground beef, Shotgunned zombies etc..

Face it folks.. High body count in this one..

Funny Things I Noticed

The scene where the doctor's wife gets gouged in the eye is funny because it totally looks like a rubber mask..

Also, the hooded zombies that got a bullet in the head, why did it seen like a big chicken bone popped out of their head each time?
*shrugs*
