Active Evangelism, Philemon Vs.6

"I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."

Sharing our faith with others, whether it be with fellow believers or with unbelievers, not only builds up those who listen, but it also deepens our own faith and causes us to see more clearly that which we have gained in Christ.

If we never shared the glorious truths of God with anyone, if we just kept everything that God has done for us and through us to ourselves, not only would other people miss out, but we too would start to become complacent and lukewarm in our walks with Christ.
Though we always retain a memory of what God has done for us and through us in our hearts, the longer time goes by without sharing the love of God, His grace and mercy, I believe the more prone we are to forget all that God has done and become very unthankful. Not sharing, not bringing to remembrance the wonderful truth of the gospel causes us to take our salvation for granted.
When this happens, we are no longer doing the work that God has placed before us with passion and urgency. Without awe and amazement for the work that God has done, how can we have passion to live by the Spirit? Instead we revert back to our flesh.
It is only when we are regularly sharing our faith, with believers and nonbelievers alike, that we are constantly not only building up others, but building up ourselves. It is when we are actively sharing our faith that we come to a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ Jesus. For without consciously recounting all that God has done, and all of God's promises for our future, our hearts become weighed down by the cares of this world and we become selfish and unused for God's purposes. We too, like Paul, should pray for others, as well as ourselves, that we would be active in sharing our faith so that we will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ Jesus.
