Ghost/Batgirl
#1
August, 2000.
Mike Kennedy and Ryan Benjamin
Price: $2.95 US, $4.50 CAN
Note: This issue was shipped a bit late and ended up coming
out along with the November books. Also, this is a cross-over between our
beloved Batgirl and Dark Horse Comics’ sexy, gun-slinging heroine, Ghost.
Synopsis: In Gotham, a bomb has gone off in the International
Diamond Exchange. Batgirl is watching. Two workers from Evacustar bag another
dead victim, and one of the workers drives away with the body, leaving
the other worker behind. In Arcadia, strippers dance in a club called the
Morpheum’s V.I.P. Room. At a banquet in Gotham, Bruce Wayne is talking
to Councilman Fletcher. The Councilman’s daughter, Kendal, has been missing
since the bombing. Barbara and Cassandra are there too, and Bruce tells
them to stay out of he mystery. (Note that Cassandra looks REALLY good
in a nightgown!!!) At Two-Face’s hideout, Two-Face shoots one of his own
henchmen, Carver, in the neck. After being dumped out, Carver is taken
away by a van. In Arcadia, a girl is being interviewed to become a stripper.
Ghost appears and we discover that the interviewer is Leo Merino. Ghost
is looking for Debbie Scoggins, who had been interviewed by Leo before
for a job at the Morpheum. Ghost leaves Leo hangin’ (literally), and heads
to her next address. At Oracle’s apartment, Oracle does some link-chasing
and discovers that some bomb victims who had gone missing had all been
admitted to St. Mary’s hospital before disappearing. Well, it looks like
Oracle and Batgirl are gonna visit Arcadia! In an underground lair, a stone-faces
doctor brings Carver back to life. At the Evacustar offices, Barb and Cassandra
meet with one of the executives, Mr. Bremler. Cass memorizes catches his
computer password. At the hotel, Oracle’s research leads to the discovery
that Evacustar is linked to the Morpheum. Mr. Bremler turns out to be one
of the Morpheum’s off-site managers!!! That nights, Batgirl perches on
a rooftop watching the Morpheum... and actually NOTICES Ghost!!! But, she
doesn’t make any move. Inside, Batgirl and Ghost kick butt, and finally
find Debbie Scoggins and Kendal Fletcher. The last comic page has descriptions
of Batgirl and Ghost. Batgirl’s description AND picture are inaccurate.
