Batgirl
#22 - CRUNCH TIME!

Synopsis: This issue starts off with a recap of what happened
to a crime boss a while back. Next, we see him as he is now, and he just
hired an assassin to kill Batgirl. In a dark alleyway, a punk is about
to shoot Batman. Batgirl is there. The punk turns himself in to Batman,
though. Oracle contacts Batman, and he’s at her apartment promptly. Oracle
shows him a feed of Cain, who is in a nuclear weapons storage facility
and very drunk. He threatens to fire the weapons. Batgirl wants to go,
but Batman orders her to stay in Gotham as he goes to stop Cain. Later,
at a bar, the assassin from earlier on receives a suitcase. He then goes
to a room and opens the suitcase, revealing a sniper gun. Outside, Batgirl
patrols Gotham. The assassin fires at her, but she dodges it. Batgirl goes
after him, but he’s already gone. Back at Oracle’s place, Batgirl returns
to find Oracle watching a new feed. Cain is still drunk as ever, but manages
to beat up a bunch of government agents. Meanwhile, the assassin receives
his payment. At the nuclear facility, Batman arrives. Suddenly, the facility
explodes. Batgirl, seeing still watching the feed, is shocked. She immediately
bolts out the window… Is it too late? Later on, we see Batgirl standing
at the top of a building, and then we see the assassin taking a shot… but
it’s the crime boss’s bodyguard that is killed. The assassin then confronts
the boss, and we are shocked to learn it is Cain!
