#17
August, 2001.
Kelley Puckett, Damion Scott, and Robert Campanella
Price: $2.50 US, $4.25 CAN
Synopsis: This issue starts off with a POW!… as Batgirl herself
is punched in the face by a thug. Of course, it only takes her a split
second to beat the thug up for that. Later, while training with Batman,
the Bat tried to figure out why Batgirl couldn’t block the punch. Oracle
suddenly pops up on the computer screen and tells Batgirl and Batman that
she knows where the government is keeping the records of Batgirl beating
up government agents out of costume. After a debate, Batman finally allows
Batgirl to go steal the records. At the government complex, Batgirl (without
her costume) breaks in the James Bond way and steals the records. NICE!
Meanwhile, Oracle and Batman debate about why Batgirl is having trouble.
Oracle suggests that Batgirl may need to have some time off and get out
in the sunlight. And, she may be right as we watch Batgirl peek out at
the world from a manhole. Back in the Batcave, Batgirl is happily playing
with a rose. Batman appears and gives Batgirl information about the government
agent who tried to figure her out, etc. At the agent’s home, Batgirl shows
up and beats the crap out of him. Later, Batgirl and Oracle spend some
time at a café. “It’s a beatiful day, isn’t it?” “Yes.”
