Understanding Daniel's Visions
concerning the Endtime

Having studied the book of Daniel carefully, God showed Daniel what was to come concerning the Jews while they are still the people of God and the status of the Holy City Jerusalem (God's presence in the Temple) in Chapters 7-10. Thus, it covered a period of about 500 years from the Babylonian king to the Grecian rule and the short period of seven years after the Rapture. After the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Jews were no longer be considered as the people of God. The people of God are then the Christians. Thus during this Christian era, the Roman and Muslim rule in Israel (renamed as Palestine) and Jerusalem are not recorded in these chapters.

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved,  Rom 11:25-26a

However, after Rapture (the period of Grace or the Holy Spirit is over) all those who are left behind are either Jews or deceived Christians and unbelievers. The Jews will once again become the people of God. This will be a short period of 7 years.

Chapters 7 & 8 of the book of Daniel describe in detail the things to come concerning the land of Israel, Jerusalem and the surrounding countries. This will be during the period when the Jews were the people of God (i.e. prior to the death of our lord Jesus Christ) and once again become the people of God (after rapture, i.e. during the last seven years of the Jews). Thus the events during the period of Grace is not included in these two chapters

Daniel Chapter 9

In the book of Daniel Chapter 9, we find that immediately after the supplication of Daniel, the angel Gabriel told him the future events concerning the Jews, the Temple of God and Jerusalem.

"Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy."   Dan 9:24

Daniel was told that God would need 70 weeks (i.e. 70 x 7 = 490 years) to deal with the Jews, and the Holy city of Jerusalem, preparing them: -

"Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;" Dan 9:25-26a

Daniel was told that from the command of Cyrus, the King of Persia to restore and rebuild Jerusalem to its completion would be 7 weeks. From the completion of rebuilding Jerusalem to the Messiah's death, which was for the salvation of mankind to those who believe, would be 62 weeks. This will take a total of 69 weeks leaving God a week (the missing week) more to finish His work.

Note: Since then the Jews lost their position as the `people of God', until all Christians are taken back to heaven at Rapture. After which will begin the last (or missing) seven years for God to deal with the Jews.

"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." Luke 21:20-24

Just prior to Rapture the antichrist, who will be popular with the people (all the Arab nations) will trample Jerusalem underfoot and disperse the Jews to surrounding nations.

"and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the war desolations are determined." Dan 9:27b

With the people's power, the endtime antichrist will destroy Jerusalem and remove the Al Aqsa mosque. In order to deceive the Jews and Christians, he will allow the Jews to build the Temple of God in its place. He will be highly successful in deceiving the Jews and Christians until the end (till the end desolations are determined) by destroying their salvation.

Note: Just after Rapture, will be the period of the wrath of Satan. the antichrist will sign a 7 year treaty with all the neighboring nations to allow the Jews to come back to Jerusalem and worship in the Temple of God built by them. Midway through the treaty, the sacrifices in the Temple will be stopped.

Last 7 years of Jerusalem

After the capture of Jerusalem, God will perform His final deliverance of Jerusalem prior to His second coming.

And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Zech 14:4-5

And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths. Zech 14:12

Final deliverance of Jerusalem will be at the Battle of Armageddon, where our Lord Jesus will stand on Mount Olives to destroy all the surrounding enemies by the brightness of His glory 7 years after Rapture.

"For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. Indeed all the people of the land will be burying them, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am glorified," says the Lord GOD. "They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. The search party will pass through the land; and whenever anyone sees a man's bone, he shall set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog." Ezek 39:12-15

It will take the Jews 7 months to bury the dead bodies in the battle of Armageddon. Thus the 2^nd Coming of the Lord about 8 years after Rapture.

Last 7 years of the Jews

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins." Rom 11:25-27

God can only consider the Jews as His people once again after the Rapture (the fullness of the Gentiles has come in - completion of the period of Grace) but unfortunately the first part (3 1/2 years) is the period of the wrath of Satan. No further salvation of Gentiles is possible after the Rapture.

At Rapture (the death of the endtime antichrist), will see the beginning of the last 7 years (week) for God to deal with the Jews, who will then once again become the people of God as Christians. God's presence will then be in the Temple of God.

Daniel Chapter 11-12

Chapter 11 and 12 of the book of Daniel gives many details concerning the neighboring nations affecting Israel. It covers the complete period from the Grecian rule to the Muslim rule finishing with the endtime events.

Historical Events

Chapter 11

:2 Mede-Persian rule.

:3 Grecian rule - Alexander the Great.

:4 Grecian rule – Grecian Empire was divided into 4 kingdoms (under the 4 generals of Alexander) after the death of Alexander the Great.

:5-20 King of the north is identified as the Seleucid kings (founded by the General Seleucus who assumed the title king in 305 BC). The capital Seleucia (near Babylon - in the land of Shinar) was on the river Tigris in central Iraq, and at a later stage was moved to Antioch in Syria.

:5-20 King of the south is identified as Egypt throughout the whole chapter.

:5-20 These events and wars were fulfilled during the days of the various Seleucid kings and the various Ptolemy kings (Egypt).

Interestingly enough, it was the eleventh chapter of Daniel with its detailed prophecy of about two hundred years of history that prompted the heathen philosopher Porphyry (third century AD) to attack the book of Daniel as a forgery. In his study, Porphyry established the fact that history corresponded closely to the prophetic revelation of Daniel 11:1-20, and the correspondence was so precise that he was persuaded that no one could have prophesied these events in the future. Accordingly, he solved the problem by taking the position that the book of Daniel was written after the events occurred, that is, it was written in the second century BC. The king of the north was Iraq and the king of the south was consistently Egypt and countries south of Iraq.

:21-28 The conquest of Islam in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egypt. Mohammed, the founder of the Islamic religion was not a royalty. His assistance or religious teachers were all called caliphs. The loots were shared with the families of Mohammed, his assistance and the soldiers. Though Islam originated from Saudi Arabia but it was after the conversion of Baghdad that it flourished. The conquest of Jerusalem by Caliph Omar in 638 AD started the Muslim rule of Palestine. Eventually, the whole of the Middle East countries and Egypt came under Islamic rule and all these conquered nations (protected peoples) are made to pay a special tax called `jizya' by him. In 1010 AD Caliph al-Hakim of the Abbassids from Baghdad ordered the destruction of all the synagogues and churches.

End time Events

:29-30a  Fulfilled in 1991AD by Project `Desert Storm'         Desert Storm

:30b-45 The conquest of the antichrist Iraq of the whole middle East and Jerusalem. Deception of Muslims to removal of the Al Aqsa mosque (daily sacrifice stopped) and the building of the Temple of God in its place. A period of great persecution of saints and godly Christians. Worldly and sleeping Christians deceived. Peace and security in the middle East and surrounding countries controlled by the antichrist. Wars (terrorists, religious, civil, ethnic) with weapons of mass destruction killing a total of 1/4 of mankind in the period called the beginning of sorrows or 4th Seal. He will then reveal himself as god sitting in the Temple of God. Many false christs and false prophets with signs and wonders will testify that he is the Messiah or god. This deception will further destroy the faith of even the elect. Many Christians will bow down to worship him (an abomination to the Lord) and thus their salvation is destroyed (desolation of Christians). "And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him."     Dan 11:45  (KJV)

:45 The endtime antichrist will build the Temple of God (tabernacles) between the 2 seas (i.e. Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea) on the Temple Mount (glorious holy mountain), thus the `Rock on the Mount' and the mosque there must be removed. After that, his death will come and no one (including Satan the devil himself) can help him, for he will destroyed by the brightness of the glorious coming of the Lord Jesus at Rapture (6th Seal). After Rapture, his dead body will be used by the devil for his incarnation to become that horrifying `Anti-christ'. This will be the beginning of the period of the wrath of Satan or the 7th. Seal.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: II Th 2:8 (KJV)

Chapter 12

Chapter 12 concentrates in the period after Rapture i.e. the last 7 years for the Jews. This period begins immediately after Rapture with the Devil being cast out of heaven down to earth. This is the period of the 7th. Seal.

:1 a) After Rapture, Archangel Michael cast the devil cast down to earth.

    b) The beginning of the period of the Wrath of Satan.    

    c) Salvation of Jews during this period (last 7 years of the Jews)

"At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book." Dan 12:1

Immediately after Rapture, Michael the archangel will rise up to protect the Jews, who are once again under God' grace. He and his angels will overcome the devil and his demon in heaven and cast them down to earth. This is the period of the last 7 years of the Jews for God to deal with them.

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Rev 12:7-9

The devil, having been cast down to earth after Rapture, will then pour his wrath on all mankind especially the Christians (left behind - worldly and sleeping) and Jews. This will start the period ( 3 ½ years) known as the wrath of Satan.

"Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time." Rev 12:12

:2 After the Millennium, will be the Great White Throne Judgment.

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Dan 12:2

The verse makes things very clear that all those who miss Rapture and therefore is not a partaker of the 1st. Resurrection will only be resurrected in the final Resurrection after the Millennium rule of Christ at the Great White Throne Judgment.

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
   Rev 20:11-15

Only those whose names are found written in the Book of Life will escape the lake of fire.

:3 Turnning many to righteousness will receive a better resurrection.

Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. Dan 12:3

All Christians who dare to admonish, rebuke, teach, guide and lead the sinning Christians (worldly, sleeping, carnal and misled) to righteousness (obeying God's word and Jesus teachings) by forsaking the worldly pursuits and gains will be highly rewarded.

:4  The mysteries of the endtime events are sealed until the time of the end, then it will be revealed.

"But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase." Dan 12:4

The endtime era is the time whereby traveling long distances to work is the norm and also worldly knowledge increases at lightning speed especially now with the IT technology. End time mysteries can only be revealed in the endtime thus all endtime writers must constantly update their writings.

:7 The Jews and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the enemies for 3½ years.

"that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished." Dan 12:7

Christians too will be under the complete power of the Anti-christ, the incarnate of the Devil. This will be the period of the wrath of Satan.

:8-9 God refused to explain the endtime mystery to Daniel, the `righteous one' of God. Again, God reminded him that the mystery and understanding could only be revealed in the endtime. Praise God for His faithfulness to His word.

Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, "My lord, what shall be the end of these things?" And he said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end" Dan 12:8-9

No one can understand and interpret endtime prophecies unless they are living in the endtime.

Again the Lord stresses that endtime mysteries will only be revealed in the last days.

:10 Endtime is the time of purification of Christians through trials and testing.

"Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand." Dan 12:10

However the nominal, worldly, carnal and misled Christians (wicked) will reject and persecute the godly Christians for the `Truth' they hold. They will not be able to understand endtime mysteries. The `wise' are those who abide in God's word (Matt 7:21). Only when they are living in the endtime era, will they be able to understand endtime mysteries.

:11 From the removal of the Al Aqsa mosque till the antichrist proclaims himself god is 1290 days.

"And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days." Dan 12:11

From the taking away of the daily sacrifice (removal of the place of worship i.e. Al Aqsa mosque) till the abomination of desolation (antichrist sitting in the Holy place - Temple of God) is set up will be 1290 days or about 3 years 7 months. This is the period of the 4th Seal or the period of the Beginning of Sorrows (before Rapture). The 5th Seal will be the period of the Great Tribulation. The 6th Seal signals the coming of the Lord at Rapture.

Note:- The Wrath of Satan is only 1260 days only and that is during the 7th. Seal after Rapture.

:12 From the removal of the Al Aqsa mosque to the Blessing will be 1335 days.

"Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days."  Dan 12:12

The Blessing will most likely be the Blessed Hope of Christians and if it be so, then the period of the Great Tribulation will only be 45 days. To God be the glory.
