Alex is from Bournemouth, England. I think that Bournemouth is on the coast, sort of. He has a sister named Deborah. He learned to play the bass when he was a teenager. I wonder if Alex was always the tallest kid in school, cuz he's pretty tall. I was always one of the tallest kids in school. I didn't like it though. Alex is famous for liking girls and booze. He's also famous for playing the bass in a band named Blur. Alex says playing the bass is really easy, but I tend to disagree. And, some of his bass parts look really hard. But no matter how hard his bass parts are, Alex always looks cool and bored while he plays. He smokes lots of cigarettes too. And sometimes he dances, which some people think is cute and some people think is silly. I think it's neat that he can look like he has no rhythm even though he's a bass player, which is a rhythm instrument. Alex met Graham at university. They lived directly above/below each other in their dorm. Once, my friend went on a blind date with the girl's brother who lived above her, but he ended up looking like a Leprechaun. He didn't look at all like Alex. Alex was the last member to join Blur. He brings savoir-faire and a laissez-faire attitude to the group, which is a good thing to say cuz it's french, and Alex knows french. Alex is really smart. He likes books by Andre Gide, and he seems to know about planets. I'm sure he knows a lot about other stuff besides Gide and French and Astrology and bass playing, but I'm not sure what cuz he's never told me. But that's okay because I'm sure it's a lot of stuff. And it's awfully fun to guess what's going on behind that famous fringe. Alex also sings a little. He has a nice voice. He also has a side band called Me Me Me with Justin from Elastica. Plus, he likes Damien Hirst a lot and even plays pool with him. Except, he probably calls it billiards or snooker, but I guess Jarvis Cocker calls it pool, so maybe Alex does too, not that he's necessarily a huge Jarvis fan. Regardless, Alex sure is cool. But that's the idea.
