| Chapter 4 Benji finished reading Lindsay�s journal, he covered his mouth as he closed the book. �Damn.� He whispered getting up from his bunk. Mr. Long better never come near them again� if he did he was a dead man. As Benji walked into the room he saw Lindsay sitting next to Joel with her headphones on. As he moved closer he was able to make out the words. �I will devour you take all the pain away.� Some how even though he knew the lyrics and what they meant to her. He felt like she meant something different this time though. He knew she was in deep pain and even though the song was saying I, she was inside asking him to take her pain away. As he walked in front of her she opened her eyes and looked up at him. Taking her hand he pulled her up and led her out the door and off the bus. Sitting down on a bench he pulled her in to his lap. He could hear her voice clearer and knew the song had changed. �This is the way I pray�Living this life just ain�t hard enough�. Burn me a light inside.� Reaching up he gently pulled the headphones off and stopped her CD player. �Talk to me. Tell me how I can help.� Her eyes seemed distend like she wasn�t really there. �I am not sure you can. It is over�I hope. As long as you are here I am safe� I know that.� �You won�t look me in the eyes. You turn away from me. You pull away every time I try to get close. Nothing that has happened has changed you. Not who you are inside.� She looked down then back up right into his eyes. �I hate it.� Her eyes blue for a moment looked like a river of pain. �I want it to go away. All of it. I don�t want the pain anymore. I don�t want the memories. I wish the only thing I remembered was you and all the good times I rarely had.� �Sweetie I will never ever let anyone hurt you again. You are the same person I feel for years ago.� He smiled, as she blushed a little bit. Standing up she pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket. �Read this.� Opening the paper Benji started to read to himself. �If I fall� Will you catch me? If I cry� Will you wipe my tears? If I get scared� Will you hold me? If I fight� Will you stay? If I run� will you run with me? If I push you away� Will you come back to me? If I want you to� Will you be with me forever?� He looked back up at her. �I will catch you, I will hold you, I will wipe your tears, I will run with you, I will always come back, I will always be here, I will protect you from the world�. And I will stay forever with out you asking.� �Benj?� Joel asked stepping off the bus. Benji glared up at his brother, not wanting someone to get in the middle of this conversation. �Sorry.� He said seeing the look from Benji. �Just came to tell you we have a show tonight and have to get ready�. Like now.� Benji nodded his head. Turning back he kissed Lindsay lightly. �Ok baby we will finish this later. Ok?� �No. We are done Benj. I love you. You love me. You will be here for me when I need you. I get it.� Benji couldn�t help but smile as he took her hand and walked onto the bus with her behind him. |
