Updates.

October 23rd 2001

Now that I've started taking a bit of care over the site again, it seesm ot be coming apart at the seams!! I have just checked with the postcards site to see why the page isn't working. The site has the following message:

If your site is on Geocities Like many other free homepage providers Geocities had recently implemented anti-linking policy, which results in inability to see pictures on postcards. We cannot do anything about this. You have to move your pictures to another web hosting service. Check the terms and conditions of your new web host carefully!

Gee, thanks Geocities...I'll make enquiries as to finding a replacement, but in the meantime any other problems that this may have caused should be brought to my attention... I'm not sure if the broken pictures on the War and Comics are to do with this as well, but have found a way of fixing those at least...

October 18th 2001

The site has now officially passed 5000, having recieved a huge boost in traffic last month.

The comics paper has a first redraft completed, and a deadline of submission for november 1st. Expect the new version posted then.

"Scrubbing" on the webpages has begun, which should free up space from loads of unnessecary code, and make loading times faster. Geocities have started to grumble about the higher levels of traffic and sent me notices saying the site has been taken offline occassionally as a result. I see no ships, but should you have had trouble reaching the site, that's why.

With access to a scanner at work, I am also hoping to slowly improve the quality of some of the pictures.

12nd September 2001.

Links have been cleaned up and updated!

The site has been recommended by the Great War Society, giving a well-earned boost to circulation. The site is well on the way to 3000 at the entrance gate. Thanks to everyone, and keep your comments coming in!

Satirical Magazines of the Great War has been included on the World War One. org site. Link to it here

After giving the paper on Comics and The Great War at the Mars Ascending Conference in Northampton, a new version of the comics essay is on it's way.

Anyone wanting to copy these pages be warned! My new part time job as a copyrightist means I am on the ball, buddy! Please mail me if you want to use any part of this site.

There is something wrong with the postcards page, and none of the pictures are sending. My postcards.com informed me a while ago that they had experienced problems, and I can only assume that this is one of the results. I will try to amend this problem as soon as possible.

22nd July. Added several links to the site (if you received a request to link to your site in the last couple of #gulp#, months, then the link should now be up). Started to transcribe old schoolbooks. Jude has now finished the second instalment of War is Hell and it will be scanned in over the next couple of weeks.

24th June. Results Day. The site has scooped an 80% mark, and I have that First! Woohoo!

10th May. At last the site is finally finished for submission. Time for the rest of the exams!

Back to War.
