1. Permissions - You should ask permission�
1) if you are unavoidably late for the start of the class: bow at the edge of the workout floor, raise your hand, wait patiently for the instructor to acknowledge you, and then ask the instructor's permission to join class. (also if you need to leave early from class)
2) if you need to be excused to use the restroom or get a drink during a class.
3) if you wish to workout in a class not of your specific belt level.
4) if you wish to work on a form or technique that is from any rank higher than your own.
5) if you want to instruct, correct or assist another student in Taekwondo (if you are not a certified or trainee instructor).
6) if you wish to attend any NON ATA school or tournament
7) if you break boards, use weapons, or desire to learn NON ATA material.

2. Respect for your Sah Bum Nim - You should show respect for your instructor, your juniors and seniors by�
1) standing at attention (feet together, hands by side) while waiting to converse with higher ranks.
2) responding "yes/no sir" or "yes/no ma'am" as appropriate, in conversations with instructors or other students.
4) running (if more than three steps are required) to position if called by an instructor or black belt.
5) standing when an instructor enters the workout area, dressing rooms, etc.
6) greeting high rank guests with appropriate respect and courtesy.
7) raising your hand if you do not understand a directive.
8) not arguing in public, on the workout floor, or in dressing rooms. Make an appointment with your instructor if you have a disagreement with another student.
9) turning away from your instructor, assistants or a partner when adjusting your clothes, belt or uniform.

3. Respect for Your School - It's easy to show respect for your school by�
1) standing at attention during the recitation of the �Songahm Spirit of Taekwondo� whether or not you are participating in the workout.
2) not wearing shoes on the workout floor. (shoes may be worn in class for medical reasons only. Consult with your instructor prior to wearing shoes in class.)
3) refraining from swearing or using profanity on school premises or at any ATA function.
4) setting a positive example for others to follow.
5) not making unnecessary conversation with other students while in class.
6) refraining from using tobacco or alcohol products while in uniform, around an ATA training facility or at any ATA event.
7) never enter the school under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
8) always being on time for my classes or any TKD event.
9) avoiding unnecessary "horse play" while on the workout floor.
10) telling my instructor if I am injured.
11) not chewing gum or candy.
12) bowing in respect to the flags and training area each time that you enter or leave the workout area.

4. Respect for Taekwondo - I can show respect for the art of Taekwondo by...
1) wearing my uniform properly.
2) treating my uniform and belt with respect.
3) wearing a complete uniform to every class.
4) not rolling pants/sleeves and always weraing full length pants/sleeves. Not shorts allowed.
5) wearing a
white, v-neck, t shirt underneath my uniform (girls/women)
6) always keeping my uniform
clean, pressed, and odor-free.
7) always wearing my proper uniform or respectful workout clothes during informal workouts.
8) never washing my belts.
9) not wearing my belt in public. (not "showing off" my rank)
10) keeping my hair short and restrained.
11) not wearing jewelry to class. Rings, ear rings, necklaces or other jewelry are not allowed, and should be removed before any workout. (This is for the safety of you and others) 
12) keeping finger and toe nails trimmed and smooth at all times.

                                ~ Also Remember ~

1) line up for class in evenly spaced lines across the workout area facing the front. The highest rank student stands in the front right-hand corner of the room. All other students line up in rank order from right to left. (make sure lines are straight from right to left and from front to back, lining up with the student to your right and the student in front of you.)
2) always say �please� and �thank you�; �ma�am or sir� when addressing an instructor, assistant or other students.
3) spar only with the supervision of your instructor.
4) always wear the appropriate safety equipment when free sparring.
5) treat all equipment we use with proper care and respect.
6) leave the workout area cleaner and nicer than we found it.
