fossil fuels |

Fossil Energy 'is that which comes from biomass from millions of years ago and has undergone major transformation processes
to the formation of high-energy substances such as coal, oil or natural gas, etc.. Not a type of renewable energy, so it is
not considered as biomass energy, but is included among the fossil fuels.
Most of the energy used in the world today comes from fossil fuels. They are used in transportation, to generate electricity
for space heating, cooking, etc..
Basic ideas about nonrenewable sources of energy
Nonrenewable energy sources come out of the ground as liquids, gases and solids.
Crude oil (petroleum) is the only commercial nonrenewable fuel that is naturally in liquid
form. Natural gas is normally a gas, and coal is a solid.
Fossil Fuels Are Nonrenewable, but Not All Nonrenewable Energy Sources Are Fossil Fuels
Coal, petroleum and natural gas are all considered fossil fuels because they were formed from the buried remains
of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago.
Uranium, a solid, is mined and converted to a fuel used at nuclear power plants.
Uranium is not a fossil fuel, but is a nonrenewable fuel.

Petroleum or crude oil
petroleum is an oily liquid composed of carbon and hydrogen in various proportions. It is found in depths ranging between 600 and
5,000 meters. This resource has been used by man since antiquity: the Egyptians used oil in the conservation of the mummies, and
the Romans, fuel for lighting.
Crude oil and its derivatives have many and varied applications. Besides being a first-rate fuel, is also an essential raw material
in industry as from oil can be made fibers, synthetic rubber, plastics, soaps, asphalt, printing inks, rubber tire manufacturing and lot
of products covering almost all farm products.
Petroleum in mallorca
Spain has no source of oil, so we need buy to other countries that have sources.
Where Is Oil Produced?
About 100 countries produce crude oil and
natural gas; the top five producing countries in
2010, and their share of total world production:
* Saudi Arabia (13%)
* Russia (12%)
* United States (9%)
* Iran (5%)
* China (5%)
