9.0 = direct digital recording of cable or satellite TV broadcast in SP mode/ or DVD transfer of an exceptionally high quality VHS recording
8.5 = DVD transfer of a very good – excellent VHS recording (usually the tape is in SP mode)
8.0 = DVD transfer of a good VHS recording (tape may be in LP mode but resolution is good)
7 – 7.5 = DVD transfer of a marginally acceptable VHS recording, acceptable to me only because of the rarity of the source
