Well here is the 2005 colour scheme for the #92 car. Brittany and I started painted it and Her and my Mom ended up finishing it the night before the Demo.
Kirkton - 2005
So we prepared the 1983 Olds Delta 88 for the kirkton derby, but it was a weak car in the back end.
But it was all about the fun and it was fun. We went into Heat 3 and it was roughly a 20 minute heat. It started off with a really hard T-bone to the passenger side of my car which literally shifted my gas tank over half a foot. it also broke the box the gas tank was in. So the car never quit on me once. Then about 10 minutes in it was down to 5 cars and 1 car was having trouble keeping it going. So i used my back end like any person would and tried to save the front end for the feature or the last 2 cars. Then I got wedged in between 3 cars. Blocks to my right, car to my left, car behind me and car infront of me and of course they were all stalled... thats where everyone thought it weas over then another car got started up and started hitting the last remaining car and thats when I got some grip and wedged myself out of that spot and thats when i noticed my back end was starting to fold down. So I decided it was now or never for using my front end. So thats what I did. Then i made one final hit on the big impala that was left and my car finally just shut down. I tried to restart it and noticed the starter wasnt working properly and gave the ref the signal to call it, giving me 2nd place in the heat and moving me to the feature.
We had a lot of work to do since my backend folded down. So we finally decided the only way to make the car runnable for the feature was to cut off the backend. so we got to work and as we worked Freddy Shruz (sorry if I spelt ur name wrong) won his heat with his caddy and moved onto the feature as well. So 1 minute before the feature my dad finds gas on the ground. He looks quickly and notices the T-bone I took in the heat cracked the fuel line by the frame which I didnt feel safe running with.. So I said I wasnt going out, then he got the idea of fixing it really quick.. so they ended up waiting for us to start the feature. Unfortuntely i got hit in the font end and the backend at the same time and my frame buckled downward into the ground and left me stranded. But Freddy and his caddy got the job done and ended up winning it all. Congrats Fred and thanks everyone, ecspecially my family for coming out and supporting me.
Stratford - 2005
My Uncle Kevin, owner and oporator of Kevins Towing and Recovery (KTR) also build up a car for the stratford derby. It was a 1985 Olds Delta 88.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the Stratford fair and the derby started off with best appearing car of course which my uncle was choosen for. he was one of the top 3 that were cheared for, and unfortunatly he didnt win but we thought he did. Anyways off we go into the derby. He was in heat 2 or 3. I forget, but initally he was off to a good start since a few of the cars dropped out quick. My uncle was using his front end a lot which no one could find out why...
(Later on we found out the shifter he was using couldn't get into Reverse)
So he continued ramming people left, right and center. Eventually it was down to 4 cars and my uncle was deffinatly the strongest running car out there. Then as he was pulling a donut to make another hit his drive shaft literally flew out. We later on found out that he broke the spiders in the rearend and made his driveshaft snap off. Leaving him 4th place in his heat and unfortunately unable to make it into the concelation or feature.
But then All of us including my uncle Kevin ended up helping Donna Dewise out by giving her our starter so she could have a shot in the concelation. She ended up moving on from the Concelation and going into the feature and with all of us helping her getting her car ready for the feature she actually got in and had a good run at it as well, she ended up placing 4th or 5th. But either way Congrats Uncle Kev (your my hero) and good work Donna!
Ilderton - 2005
As you may of read my uncle had a full ass end left on his delta 88 and since I didn't have enough derbys this year I just had to finish off his car for him. So with a lot of help from my uncle and my dad and his friend Paul we changed the rearend, fixed the front end a bit and did a few more minor adjustments to prepare it for the Ilderton Demolition Derby.
So it was also another beutiful Sunday afternoon in Ilderton and Brittany, Myself and my dad loaded up the car and headed to Ilderton. We of course weren't out for best appearing car but we still had a good chance of doing something in the derby. So I was placed in heat 2 along side Jeremy Forward, a fella I went to school with, he had a big old Ford Grand Marquie. Anyways the Heat started and I was already into trouble trying to find the right gears with the shifter we were using... So I was getting nailed pretty hard. While trying to protect my front end I was getting in trouble with the back end and it was slowly folding down (thats a no no). Unfortunately about haft way threw the heat Jeremy hit be with his rearend and got hooked on my front bumper. Then it took us both sum time to unhook ourselfs and luckily not get counted out. So then we were off to hitting again.
Then the next thing I know it, its down to 4 cars and only 3 go onto the feature. I then noticed how bad my back end was getting and how hard it was to keep the car going and keep it moving... (due to the backend folding into my tires) So I figured I'd go for 1st if I could since I knew I wouldn't have much of a chance in the feature with wut I had and I really wanted to win my uncle a trophy. So I started to slowly understand the shifter and threw it into reverse but lil did I know Jeremy was heading full throttle at me... so I took his hit then came car #51 with another blow to my back end. Thats when my dad figured I was done. I somehow got the car fired back up, but then stalled again... i gave it more gas the second time and floard it out of there but then i noticed after car 51 hit me he stalled and couldn't re-fire his car back up. So it was down to me, Jeremy and one other guy. I later on was in a corner and was having trouble moving due to my back end and the other two were duking it out. So the ref called it since no cars were moving... I ended up getting 3rd in the heat and moving onto the feature. So did Jeremy who got 2nd and the other guy who got 1st.
There wasn't much we could do with the car to get it ready for the feature because i had no back end and the front end was still in rough shape..
But my cousin Danny came down to the pits and we somehow got it ready for the feature the best we could. (thanks Cousin Dan!) I went into the feature and didn't get to do a whole lot but atleast I wasn't the first one out. One guy had a fire start in his car before the feature even started
(which is tough luck, sorry pal)
So I think I ended up finishing 5th because of a broken rear Accel.
I just want to thank my uncle Kevin for letting me run the ilderton Derby with his car it really means a lot to me and I also want to thank My uncle for helping out with the car and my dad exspecially for using his weekends to tag along with me doing something I love. I also want to thank the whole family for coming out and showing there support derby after Derby. Thanks Cousin Dan for coming down and helping out and Brittany your an amazing girlfriend and things wouldn't be the same without you there. Thanks for always keeping my head up, I Love you Baby
