Who was Shinra Saburo?

Some Koreans say that a samurai Shinra Saburo was Korean:

The name of this "Jujitsu " founder is "Shinna Sabro ", and the Korean pronunciation of his name is "Silla Samrang." There were many Koreans who moved to other countries, and because they still felt strong ties to their homeland they used this kingdom's name as their maiden name. The meaning of this founder's name is "Silla third man," so it is thought that this founder's ancestors came from the kingdom of "Silla ".
Hwa Rang Do: History

It is a preposterous fallacy. Shinra Saburo was the nickname, not maiden name, of Minamoto no Yoshimitsu (1045-1127), a sixth generation descendant of Emperor Seiwa (r. 858-876). For more information, see the family tree of Minamoto clan.

Shinra is in connection with a Shinto shrine Shinra-zenshindo, where his adult initiation rite was performed. Saburo stands for the third man, for he was the third son of Minamito no Yoriyoshi. His two older brothers Yoshiie (1039-1106) and Yoshitsuna (1042?-1132) had nicknames using the same naming convention: Hachiman Taro and Kamo Jiro. Hachiman was derived from Iwashimizu-Hachimangu Shrine in Kyoto and Kamo was named for Kamo Shrine in Kyoto. They held their initiation rites at those Shinto shrines. Taro stands for the first man and Jiro for the second man.

Contrary to the Korean explanation, Minamoto no Yoshimitsu's ancestor did not come from Silla. Be careful about random speech from Koreans who talk about their "original" martial arts.
