Comb with teeth close together and other side far apart. Comb like a miniature rake. Tearless cat shampoo or baby shampoo. Blunt tip scissors. Cat nail clipper. Don't buy rubber brushes they damage a coat and slide over matted hair. Optional : conditioner, baby powder, tear stain remover, and flea shampoo. If you will be showing your Himalayan quality grooming supplies are recommended.

The dent in the nose can cause more tearing depending on how far it is indented. Tearing leaves stains. Gently wipe under eye with warm water or stain remover for cats on cotton ball weekly.
Healthy ears are white and clean. Clean off wax or dirt with cotton ball or Q-tip moistened with olive oil. Look at the inner flap. Clean external part of ear only. If ears are dark or waxy have vet check for ear mites. |
Trimming should be done every 2 to 3 weeks. Only clip off the white part of the nail. The pink is the nerve ending. Your vet will show you if you ask. Nail trimming saves on rugs and funiture. |

Show Himalayans need to be brushed often. Pet - brief once a day and good once a week. More needed during shedding periods - spring and fall. |
