A
Word on Buzzwords:
At
Sherman Systems, we don't like to make light of the powerful
tools developed over the past several decades for organizations
to evaluate and improve their processes. However, all of us have,
at one time or another, bumped up against 'buzzwords' - those
popular names that become entrenched in management jargon with
little consideration for what they really mean.
In
and of themselves, buzzwords are harmless; however, the caveat
of methodologies tagged by buzzwords is that they can be inappropriately
deployed by leaders. No single methodology can be applied to
every process or system, yet valuable approaches such as Six
Sigma and Total Quality Management (TQM) have frequently
been mis-applied to processes, yielding poor results. In many
cases, this is due to the fact that the methodology has attained
a buzzword status in the organization - it is the solution for
everything!
At
Sherman Systems, we pride ourselves on our ability to
deploy the right tools for your process, not brandishing a universal
methodology that may or may not deliver the results you need.
