The Evansville silver cross
The silver cross was found near Evansville, Minnesota. This apparently was unearthed in 1881 by a farmer breaking up the prairie soil. It is 4 1/2 inches long and the cross pieces are about 2 1/4 inches in length. The top of the cross appears to have had a hole to pass a chain through which was worn through leaving the 'horns' on top. The front and back are engraved with scroll work but no inscription. The tips or ends of the cross are worn enough so that the engraving appears to have been worn off like an old coin. Some similar crosses has been found in Norway.
