NEVER GIVE OUT YER E-MAIL, DUDE!

I am writing this because I see so many people who make the same mistake over and over. As I've cautioned you in the articles at times, NEVER give out your MAIN e-mail address (the one where you receive mail from friends and family) out to strangers! Who are strangers? Off hand, I'd say pretty much anyone who does not know you and wants your money. So, when you're filling out the online form for the latest Magazine Seller's Million Dollar Entry, DON'T USE YOUR MAIN E-MAIL! When you are filling in the form so that you can receive the newsletter for 'Friends of Nubian Goats Monthly', DON'T USE YOUR MAIN E-MAIL! Whether you are applying for a job, offering an opinion, or anything else, DON'T USE YOUR MAIN E-MAIL! You see, even the kindest people or the most trusted organization or business will eventually SELL any information you provide to the highest bidder. Oh, and by the way, I've seen many over the years who SWEAR they would never do that, only to receive an e-mail later explaining that not only have they sold it, they sold a few hundred times, AND, if you don't like it, you can tell them. And, well, who knows, they may actually take you off their lists, not that you'd ever have any way to prove it. But the damage is done. And all this is usually explained away by the offending party by telling you that 'due to rising internet costs, and the fact that YOU, the user of their site didn't click on enough of their ad banners, or buy enough magazines, or whatever they were FORCED to sell them, making the whole thing YOUR FAULT!

Ok, now having said that, what do you do about an e-mail that you can use. There are many servers out there, who, for the price of both the ad banners, sometimes pop-up windows, and the FACT that they WILL SELL your info immediately on sign up, will allow you to get a FREE E-MAIL ADDRESS! I've always used Yahoo or my favorite, Hotmail (owned by Microsoft) mostly because they got in early and I got used to them. Both services will walk you thru a fairly simple process in order to set it up. By the way, they both, I believe, will ask you IF you want to subscribe to various free online magazine offers, but you don't have to take any of them if you don't want to. Also, if you don't want to put any of your real information in their data banks during this process, JUST DON'T! Now here is you chance to be Bugs Bunny, working for Warner Bros., your 70 something years old, and, if 'Occupation' or anything else pops up that offers 'Other' in the possibilities, use that. I've been so many cartoon characters at this point, I'm surprised Disney, Warner Bros, DC AND Marvel Comics' lawyers should be noticing.

From this point forward, you may simply use your new free e-mail address whenever someone requires one online. And if you're worried million dollar giveaways won't find you, go ahead and use your real information on THEIR form, but continue to use the backup e-mail. This way, you may get a little more junk mail in your mailbox, but you main e-mail will still stay relatively uncluttered. Hey, there's always a price to pay, and you know, I've offered several times to buy at least one subscription to every single magazine they offer if they'd just show me da' money!
