This province is rich in ancient architecture and has been designed the "City of a Hundred Stupas".

    The largest ancient Khmer sanctuary in Si Sa Ket, it is located at Ban Kamphaeng Yai in Uthumphon Phisai district about 1 km. from the district office.

    The main stupas is flanked by two smaller brick stupas. At the back are another brick stupa and two rectangular buildings. An inscription in Ancient Khmer refers to a dedications of the land god Siva in 1042 A.D.

    The lintels,pediments and doorway columns of some of the stupas are of sandstone with beautiful carving of stories and designs. The newest vihara houses the 13th century Buddha images on Naga and in meditating attitude which have been excavated at the sanctuary. Because of its inscription and the artistic styles of the lintels and pediments,its construction in believes to date back to the 11th century. The Prasat was first built as a Brahmanic sanctuary and altered to be a Mahayana Buddhist temple in the 13th century. It is presently under restoration by the Fine Arts Department which, when completed , will make it another major historical and archaeological attraction.

    Location : Ban hoi in Tambon Ya Plong, Muang district.

    This sanctuary consists of the stupa and a library surrounded by a rectangular wall,  all of the laterite. Plan is typical of the architecture in King Jayavaraman VII's reign in the 13th century which is found extensively in the Northeast. It may be one of the healing-houses ( arokaya sala ) which are referred to in an inscription of his reign. However, a lintel carving depicting the god Varuna seated on a dais carried by three swans above a Gala face and designs which are similar to the ancient Khmer art of the 11th century, have been discovered at this sanctuary.
