This is the province's important monument of worship located in the provincial capital. Shaped like an angular lotus bud in brick and mortar, the monument was built on top of a laterite and sandstone monument with an ancient Khmer inscription of the 11th century. The newer monument is presumed to belong to the Lan Xang period contemporaneous with the late Ayutthaya period.

This is a fully-restored Khmer sanctuary located 5 km. from Sakon Nakhon via the route to Udon Thani.

Its lintels and pediments portray beautiful carvings of the 12th century. The eastern lintel and pediment are carved as the god Krishna in a contest of strength, and the god Siva dancing respectively. The western lintel also bears the carvings of the god Krishna, but the western pediment is carved with the god Vishnu in slumber.
