Nong Khai
This province by the Mekong boasts cultural legacies in the Lanna art style from the North, the most evident being the historical places at Wiang Khuk in Muang district.
Phra That Bangphuan
This monument's location is in the compound of a temple of the same name in Muang district. It is shaped like an angular lotus bud on a 17.20 m. square base, like Phra That Phanom. The height from the base to the top of the crowning umbrella is 34.25 m.
The Urangkhathat legend refers to the enshrinement of Buddha's pelvis bone relics in the monument during the same period as Phra That Phanom. It was restored and enlarged in the 17th century.
There are many 17th century buildings in the mixed styles of Lan Xang and Lanna in the temple's compound.
The present monument was reconstructed by the Fine Arts Department after its collapse on June 21, 1970.
