The teacher called on Suzy,
To read the fairy tale.
Looking blankly around the room,
Suzy becomes a deathly pale.
"Once upon a time," she said,
"There was a princess and a pea."
"Suzy, Dear," the teacher cried,
"That's really not what I see."
A sinking feeling Suzy felt,
As she looked up from the page.
"I'm sorry," Suzy sadly gasped,
While taking center stage.
The next day, picking up a book,
The little girl sat down.
"Mommy, I want to teach you something,"
She whispered with a frown.
Suzy gave a little smile,
As she listened without heed.
As Suzy's little daughter,
Taught her mommy how to read.
