1. Daily review. Effective teachers begin a lesson with a five- to eight- minute review of previous material, correction of homework, and review of relevant prior knowledge. To make sure that the students posess the prerequisite skills for the day's lesson, the teacher can review the concepts and skills necessary to do the next day's homework; have students correct each other's papers; ask about items where the students had difficulty or made errors; and review or provide additional practice on facts and skills that need reteaching.
