A Reply to a Gnostic

Acharya S, an anti-Judaic anti-Christian Gnostic and the author of The
Christ Conspiracy, had sent a letter (below) to an ad hoc list,
presenting her 'refutation of Christianity'. The letter contains two
thoughts: 

1. Christianity as a Trojan Horse: Park Christianity at the gate of the
nations, and out pop a bunch of “Chosen People”. 

This is exactly the view that the not-so-esoteric Judaic best-seller of
the fourth century, Toledot Yeshu, tries to spread. It tells us of a
wise Jew (Simon - St Peter) who agreed to be the Pope for the first
Christians; he taught them not to harm Jews, not to baptise children, to
fast on Fridays. He lived in a tower so he would be able to avoid food
of Christians etc. This Judaic "anti-Gospel" presents Christianity as a
clever invention of Jews created by them in order to mislead the Christ
disciples. 

It is amusing that an anti-Judaic Gnostic swallows the Jewish line hook,
line and rod. If she would just think why it was written! As the
Christian Church was (and is) the main enemy of Jews, they spread this
idea in order to undermine people's trust in the Church. It is an
age-old stratagem: make your chief enemy a suspect to his weaker allies.
This stratagem was used many times all over the world, often with
success. 

One of the versions is presented in Aesop’s fable of Dogs and Wolves.
The Wolves came to the Sheep and swore they would live with them in
peace but for the Dogs. The Sheep did not buy it. Then the Wolves said
to the Sheep that the Dogs are in cahoots with them anyway. The Sheep
dismissed the Dogs and - were eaten by the Wolves. 

In order to support this view, Acharya quotes the well-known satiric
text by Marcus Eli Ravage. Mainly it is a Judaic boast - "we supplied
you with your god"; but besides, it repeats the old trick of the Toledot
by claiming that the Church was created in the interests of Jews. Naďve
Acharya calls this article ‘honest’ though it is the same old
subterfuge. 

If we are into quoting Jewish texts, I would quote a well-known Jewish
nationalist writer Jacob Klatzkin whose book Problems of Contemporary
Jewry appeared in Germany in 1928 and later was republished with
endorsement by Albert Einstein. He wrote: 

  I do not call you [the Jews] to stay out of fray. Go into the battle,
  first of all against Christianity. The voice of Jews is against the
  greatest lie of mankind; we dare to call upon humanity: Ecrasez
  l'infâme!

You can find hundreds of similar quotes from various Jews in Esau's
Tears by Lindemann and in the Google. Now Ardeshir Mehta, a born-again
Gnostic, repeated the same call. He wrote: “It seems that nobody except
for Voltaire (and to some small extent, and only recently, myself) have
had the guts to say, "Ecrasez l'infâme". Wrong, Ardeshir and Acharya,
you just repeat the old Judaic line. 

The Church is the ultimate defence against Judaic assault. Indeed, while
the Church was strong the Jews were powerless; so much for your thesis
of a Trojan Horse. If Jewish hatred is a proof, this proof is available
in abundance. This week in Jerusalem, a Jewish believer spat on a cross
carried by an Armenian Bishop. Is that the way to treat your Trojan
Horse? 

But it is interesting for us to understand the reasoning of Acharya. She
– and her fellow-travellers – are Americans, and they are used to their
Judaised Christianity. They are not aware that since the days of St Paul
and St Peter, the Church and the Christian doctrine fully accepted
veneration of Our Lady, this additional defence against Judaic
penetration. Sergey Bulgakov called this veneration of Our Lady – a
cornerstone of the Church. 

Don’t you think, light-minded Gnostics, that the fathers of the Church
were not aware of the grievous danger of Judaisation! The true apostolic
Christianity walks the tightrope between Judaism and Gnosticism, the two
chasms, without surrendering to them. Simone Weil warned us against this
danger, and stressed that Christianity is not a Judaic creed; the Greeks
of Iliad had premonitions of Christ, and we find Jesus and Our Lady in
the images of Osiris and Isis. 

Even today I received a letter from my good friend Neil Bishop, an
American Christian thinker. He wrote: 

  You are right to identify worship of the Virgin Mary as an essential
  part of the revival of genuine Christianity in America. It would
  disastrous to slacken the wall between church and state as long as
  popular American Christianity remains so extremely Protestant. The
  derangement of American Christianity goes beyond Christian Zionism;
  American evangelical Protestantism fully embraces Mammonism (thus
  verifying Max Weber and R.H. Tawney’s insights into the connection
  between Protestantism and Capitalism), American nationalism and
  imperialism, militarism, cruel criminal justice, and destruction of
  Nature for the sake of Profit and Consumption. There actually is a
  movement among Evangelicals here for creating a ‘Christian’ society;
  it’s called Restorationism, and its aim is to base society on Old
  Testament Law, including such things as executing homosexuals and
  reinstituting slavery. 
  
  This is the fundamental problem, as I see it, with evangelical
  Protestantism: it is too Judaic; theirs is not a God of Mercy, who “is
  kind to both the evil and the ungrateful”, but rather a God of
  Punishment and Revenge, the god William Blake rightly called “Satan, the
  Accuser.” In one of your essays you quoted Simone Weil to the effect
  that adherence to the Old Testament was a birth defect of Christianity;
  I agree with her there, and with the perspective of her Letter to a
  Priest. I believe Christianity needs a thorough de-Judaization, for even
  the apostolical churches have not shaken loose sufficiently from
  Judaism. And veneration for Our Lady seems to me the key to this
  liberation.

Acharya’s error is based on her ignorance of true Christianity as the
faith was established by the Seven Councils of the Church. Our
Christianity is not just about reading and treasuring Christ’s words,
precious as they are. Ours is a great old faith which includes worship
and sacraments, esoteric teaching and exoteric ritual, veneration of Our
Lord Christ, Our Lady Mary and the Saints. Many a Judaic scholar tried
to make the Christians forget it. So did my teacher, the late professor
David Flusser. He wrote: “if the Christians were just to follow
preaching of Jesus! Let them drop this idea of his Divinity and
Messiahood!” In other words, if we were just to become Hassids of a
Rabbi Jesus. But Christianity is exactly about Jesus being Christ, and
about the miracle of Immaculate Conception, and about Our Lady’s
Intercession. This Christianity is not a Trojan Horse, but a mighty
shield against Judaic domination. 

2. Second thought of Acharya 

"Jesus Christ" is a fictional character based on the numerous gods,
goddesses and assorted heroes of the "known world" at the time of his
creation. He is essentially the sun god turned into a "Jewish" man,
"messiah," "Christ”, etc… Despite its boasts and claims, Christianity is
not unique, as practically all of its dogma, tenets, beliefs, myths and
fables can be found in the numerous cultures that preceded it in a wide
area of the world… 

Acharya would make great friends with my primary school teacher in
Novosibirsk of AD 1955. She was also impressed by such comparisons.
However, these similarities are rather confirming than refuting
Christianity. 

She may read the Letter to a Priest (Lettre a un Religieux) by Simone
Weil who brazenly admitted all Acharya’s claims and added: Baal and
Astarte were images of Christ and His Mother. Story of Prometheus is a
story of Christ projected into eternity. Dionysius and Apollo signified
Logos, while Hestia and Athena signified the Holy Spirit. By turning
water into wine, and wine into blood, Christ made clear his proximity to
Dionysius. Demeter and Isis were forerunners of the Virgin. Sergey
Bulgakov expressed it in similar way: the polytheistic peoples had their
dark premonitions of Christ and Our Lady. Deep archetypical qualities of
Christ and Our Lady were noted by Mircea Eliade and Carl Gustav Jung. 

The great mystic Rene Guenon was not bothered by materialists who
pointed out to cosmic meaning of Cross as intersection of equator plane
and polar axis. He said: “true symbolism is not an invention of man, but
it is based in the Nature; or, better, the nature is just a symbol of
transcendent reality (Symbolism of Cross, Chapter 4). Likewise,
plentiful comparisons of Acharya just amplify the truth of Christ. 

I saw in an interview (http://www.tektonics.org/print.php4) given by
Acharya that she is a great believer in space invaders and in contact
with UFOs. Indeed, Chesterton was right: A person who does not believe
in God will not remain without a belief; she will believe in anything at
all. If one wants to part with belief, there is a better way: a devoted
Christian, Jung was asked a few days before his death, whether he
believes in God. “I do not have to believe, - he replied. – I know”.

I've said this before, but it bears repeating, I think. I like to
describe Christianity as a Trojan Horse: Park Christianity at the gate
of the nations, and out pop a bunch of "Chosen People." As far as I'm
concerned, and as I think I make clear in my books, Christianity is a
deliberately contrived ideology (not that religions in general aren't),
designed to perpetuate the established domination (not hegemony, since
"the nations" are not allies) of the Old Testament supremacists. (I hope
you get my drift. I need no smearing with fallacious terms such as
"anti-Semitic.")

ignorant Goyim into accepting the megalomaniacal claims of the

In this regard, Marcus Eli Ravage, a biographer of the Rothschilds,
remarked in Century magazine, 1928: 

  Nineteen hundred years ago you were an innocent, care-free pagan race.
  You worshipped countless Gods and Goddesses, the spirits of the air, of
  the running streams and of the woodland. You took unblushing pride in
  the glory of your naked bodies. You carved images of your gods and of
  the tantalizing human figure. You delighted in the combats of the field,
  the arena and the battle-ground. Disporting yourselves on the hillsides
  and in the valleys of the great outdoors, you took to speculating on the
  wonder and mystery of life and laid the foundations of natural science
  and philosophy. Yours was a noble, sensual culture, unirked by the
  prickings of the social conscience or by any sentimental questionings
  about human equality. Who knows what great and glorious destiny might

  We made you the willing and unconscious bearers of our mission to the
  whole world, to the barbarous races of the world, to the countless
  unborn generations. Without fully understanding what we were doing to
  you, you became the agents at large of our racial tradition, carrying
  our gospel to unexplored ends of the earth. 
  
  Our tribal customs have become the core of your moral code. Our tribal
  laws have furnished the basic groundwork of all your august
  constitutions and legal systems. Our legends and our folk-tales are the
  sacred lore which you croon to your infants. Our poets have filled your
  hymnals and your prayer-books. Our national history has become an
  indispensable part of the learning of your pastors and priests and
  scholars. Our Kings, our statesmen, our prophets, our warriors are your
  heroes. Our ancient little country is your Holy Land. Our national
  literature is your Holy Bible. What our people thought and taught has
  become inextricable woven into your very speech and tradition, until no
  one among you can be called educated who is not familiar with our racial
  heritage. 
  
  Jewish artisans and Jewish fishermen are your teachers and your saints,
  with countless statues carved in their image and innumerable cathedrals
  raised to their memories. A Jewish maiden is your ideal of motherhood
  and womanhood. A Jewish rebel-prophet is the central figure in your
  religious worship. We have pulled down your idols, cast aside your
  racial inheritance, and substituted for them our God and our traditions.
  No conquest in history can even remotely compare with this clean sweep
  of our conquest over you. 

Think about it.
