Role Playing in Nessus

Nessus is not a nice place. It is a Mercenary Fortress with all kinds of rough necks, foul language, fighting, murder, and general mayhem. But, we who own and operate this Role Playing Game, have set some limitations. While we are very open for players to express themselves and build their characters to be all they can be, we do not tolerate certain behaviors.

We, the staff, operate this game as a form of entertainment and relaxation for ourselves and the general public, and have found the following behaviors do nothing but stir up trouble that is unneeded.

There is a distinct difference between stirring up ic trouble to get the role play ball rolling, so to speak, and stirring up trouble to simply be an ass.

The following is a list that must be followed and adhered to or forget playing at Nessus:

  • Rape: Rape is not only an issue that offends many, but we have seen it being used to coerce players into situations they did not wish to play out (ie. woman claims she was raped by so and so to get back at another player for ooc or ic reasons or to defame another's character, etc)

While you are free to play a psychopath, we will not tolerate a player involving other players in these scenarios, whether they agree to or not.

Rape may be mentioned in a player's character description or even talked about as part of their character's past, but we will not tolerate rape scenarios to be played out, involving PCs or NPCs. This includes main screen representations and private messages.

  • Child Molestation: No need to explain this, it is just wrong. Zero tolerance of any situation of this being played out. You may include it in your character background description (ie was molested as a child) but that is all.

  • Drug Use: We allow players to play out addictions and/or use drugs as part of their character's behavior, but we will not tolerate players to use our room for making OOC deals or speaking OOC about how "high" they may be or were at some point in time in real life. This is a Role Playing Game, and real life drug use is illegal. We do not advocate real life drug use.

  • Pregnancy: Players are allowed to marry and have children as part of their character's life, but only if both partners agree to it. If a woman wishes to become a single parent, she may do so, but not mention who the father is. We have seen this scenario used also to coerce another player into situations they may not have wanted to play out and also used to defame a player's character.

If you view a player violating these set limitations, please send a log to [email protected]. We simply do not accept the word of one over another, you must show proof to the best of your ability.

While this list is not complete, I think most of you have enough common sense to discern fair play. If not, GMassacre- will be more than happy to educate you.
