Vampires are perhaps one of the hardest races to classify. For the most part their physical characteristics can be those of any other race. Every race produces Vampires. These creatures are therefore not grouped with the race they were born into. Their differences from their birth race and common traits shared with others like them make them a race unto themselves.

Vampires have the same build, heights, and weights of the race they were born into.

Their eye coloring varies widely, however, yellow, red, black, and pink are most common. Their vision is very keen reaching into the IR spectrum.

Vampires typically share the same skin tones as their birth race. However, their skin is much more pale. Hair thickness and length is determined by birth race.

A Vampire does not die of natural causes. While they are immortal they are not indestructable. A weapon has the same effect on a Vampire as it does on any other race. Myths of Vampires being harmed by "Holy Items" or precious metals are just that.. Myths

Vampires generally prefer to live in Temperate climates, especially warm temperatures are very uncomfortable for them. Their diet is unique. Vampires can digest both plants and animals and both do give them sustenance, but they must also consume fresh blood on a regular basis.

Key Features: Vampires have many distinguishing features, most of which have spawned the myth that they are unnatural beings. Vampirism is infact neither a curse nor unnatural existance. It is physiological abdormality possible in any species.

Vampires have a form of Hemophilia. Thier bodies do not produce normal blood, therefore they must ingest the blood of other creatures to replace the components deficient in their own.

Vampires are born with retractable fangs used to make draining blood much easier.

The deficiencies in their blood cause their skin to be very pale. Because of this they are easily and sometimes severly burned by sunlight.

Vampires digestive sytem is much different than other species. Rather than absorbing raw nutrients into their blood their systems break down their food much further. This greater effeciency not only supplies them with the missing components in their blood, it also allows their cells to regenerate. This constant rejuvenation prevents death from natural causes and gives them an eternally youthful appearance.

Vampirism is not transmitable. It is a trait from birth. Vampires are not created by bites from Vampires. However, offspring of Vampires are much more likely to be Vampires themselves than offspring of "normal" parents.

At first glance a Vampire may be mistaken as a normal member of their birth race. Their fangs and eating habits are the normal signs which reveal their true existance.

Note: All races will vary from world to world. Almost everything listed above is stereo typical information. Only information listed as "Key Features" will be a constant as these things are what universally cause a creature to be labelled a certian race. An Elf may not have ever heard the term "Elf". His people may have another name which they call themselves. But if he looks like what other worlds consider an "Elf" that is what he will be considered by the city of Nessus and the game. Some races may share "Key Features" in those cases the stereo-typical information wil be used to give a creature a label. Creatures which dont seem to fit into any catagory will be considered Mystical Creatures.
