Lake Applet

Gardens

I want to have a garden
In a place beside the sea
Where stocks and phlox and hollyhocks
Will nod their heads to me,
And where the morning sunshine
Will make the garden bright
And the grey and misty waters
Will sing to me at night.

I want to have a garden
Where my friends can walk with me,
A friendly place, a quiet place
Where peace comes dropping free
And laughter echoes down the paths
And makes the garden gay,
While blue and sparkling waters
Will sing to me all day.

I want to have a garden
And it must be Ayrshire way,
Where green and friendly Carrick Hills
Sweep upward from the bay,
And I shall live beside my flowers
Under my rowan tree,
And the rolling Ayrshire waters
Shall ever sing to me.
