| Three weeks after Zero's death a scientist named Gate searches through the ruins where a piece of the space colony fell and finds a strange object. A week later, a now insane Gate begins an operation to create a Reploid utopia. Meanwhile X is sent out to stop a Maverick riot. After damaging a large Mechaniloid, Zero appears and destroys it. A short while later, a Reploid name Isoc makes an announcement that the ghost of Zero is causing something called the Nightmare to wreak havock. 8 Investigators had supposedly been sent out to find out what it is and X sets out on his journey to stop the Nightmare, and see if Zero is alive. |
| The Nightmare effect- Each stage will cause a different effect two other stages. Any stage thats recently effected will be highlighted in red. Example after visiting Commander Yammarks level steel flies will now swarm around you in Sheild Sheldon's and Blaze Heatnix's stages. The power of the boss that creates the effect also destroys the effect. Parts/Reploid Rescue/Ranking- Power up parts in this game are collected by rescuing reploids scattered through the levels there are 124 reploids in all but not all of them have parts. You cannot equip parts unless you have achieved rank A first. In order to raise your level you must colect nightmare souls. Nightmare souls are blue orbs dropped by squid like enemies called night mares. The night mares can also inffect the reploids that need rescued. If the reploids are nffected they will start to attack you and cannot be saved anymore. Blue portals- In every level there is a blue portal that if you jump through it you'll be transported to another area. At the end of the area there will be a boss area. The first time you visit one of these areas you'll fight the Nightmare Zero, after beating nightmare Zero, Zero, will become a playable character. The second time you visit one of these areas you'll find High Max. After beating High Max or obtaining the final levels you'll find Dynamo in these areas. |
| Order To Beat the Mavericks: Commander Yammark- His weakness is Infinity Mijinion's weapon. X-buster works just fine though. Ground Scaravich- His weakness is Commander Yammark's Weapon. PH33R the museum music!! Blaze Heatnix- Ground Scaravichs weapond is his weakness. Blizzard Wolfang- Use Balze Heatnix's weapon. Rainy Turtloid- Use Blizzard Wolfang's weapon. Metal Shark Player- Use Rainy Turtiloids weapon. Sheild Sheldon- Use Metal Shark Player's weapon. Infinity Mijinion- Use Sheild Sheldon's weapon. |
| After pressing Start, you can enter one of these codes. ULTIMATE ARMOR FOR X: At the title screen, press Left 3 times then press Right once. If the code is confirmed, you'll hear a chime-like sound. ULTIMATE ARMOR FOR ZERO: At the title screen, press R-1 3 times the press L-2 once. If this doesn't work, sorry for the inconvenience.
