Chapter 8

"Cass... honey what happened?" Mandie ran and sat next to her friend, "Cass, talk to me."

"Why should I?" Cass looked at her with a disgusted face.

"Because we are friends," Mandie kneeled in front of Cass on the floor, "Now tell me what happened."

"I couldn't find anything to wear, that's all," Cass put on this fake smile and Mandie looked at her with the sternest face. Lance, Justin and Brad all stood at the doorway, staring at the scene.

"Damn, the girl can punch!" Justin exclaimed.

"Shut up," Lance elbowed him.

"Bullshit Cass, tell me why you did this," Mandie said firmly, taking Cass's wrist into her hands. Cass flinched in pain as Mandie examined Cass's hand, "You broke a couple fingers there, slick, what are you so mad about?"

"Do you think you can tell the Brady bunch to leave?" Cass looked at the three males in disgust.

"Yah of course," Mandie got up and walked to the guys, "Sorry," she said pushing them out the door, "Here's my cell number Lancecall me later ok?" She handed him a card with her name who represented her and her cell phone number on it.

"All right... see ya."

"Bye."

Mandie slowly walked into the room "ok babe tell me" she walked to the fridge/freezer and pulled out some ice and wrapped it on a towel.

"Shit that's cold," Cass flinched at the icepack as it was placed on her arm.

"Man, I don't know what Carson's going to think about this," Mandie mumbled to herself.

"I hate all men!" Cass exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" Mandie asked, letting go of Cass's arm.

"Guess who just called me?"

"Who?"

"Michael."

"Your ex?"

"Yep, and guess what he said?"

"What did he say?"

"Well, he asked me if he could take me back... "

"And"

"I told him not after the way he treated me."

"So what made you punch the wall?"

"After I told him that he called me a cheap whorethen told me I was only friends with you to further my career and that did it. I totally went off...nobody talks about my friends like that...and you know I'm not using you."

"Yah."

"Well, I still have to find a god damn outfit for the damn show," Cass got up and started looking through some of the clothes on the floor.

"You aren't going on with 2 broken fingers, Cass," Mandie said.

"Of course I can, I'm strong enough to do anything," Cass finally found a pale yellow shirt and went into the bathroom, "Now, go to your loverboy and tell him everything's alright."

"Okay," Mandie smiled and walked out of the dressing room, smiling at Lance as she bumped into him.

"Cass okay?" he asked.

"She broke 2 fingers and is a little emotionally unstable, but I think she'll surpass," she replied.

Carson came out into the hall, "Oh hey Mandie. Babe, I want you to start the show with me ok?"

"All right just come get me when your ready..."

"Well let's go."

"Now?"

"Yah."

"Ok," she turned around, "You wanna go out after the showI mean I have to take Cass back to my house but after that we can go from there," she smiled.

"Okay, I'll see you later," Lance smiled as her and Carson were walking away. The door was still open to Cass's dressing room and he saw Cass come out of the dressing room in the same pale yellow shirt she went in with and a black leather skirt about knee-length.

"Where's Mandie?" Cass asked Lance when she saw him.

"She went with Carson," Lance simply replied and Cass started to walk out of the dressing room, "You took quite a hit there."

"No, the wall took a good hit, I'm gonna be dead when they find out."

Lance laughed a little, "Cass"

"Yah?"

"I'm taking Mandie out tonight."

"You go boy."

"Yah."

"And?"

"Where should I take her?"

"Well, to be honest, since she's my sis, take her somewhere romantic."

"So McDonalds is out of the question?"

"Yep definitely," she started laughing, "But take her there on your wedding anniversary."

"Wedding?" he said shocked a little but secretly 'yes I wish', "Girl, you're way ahead."

"But anyway, um, La Grenouille, I think, would be a good place to take her, um I think that's the restaurant."

"Where is it?"

"Midtown."

"Okay, is it like, French?"

"Yep, I've eaten there a couple years ago with my French class in 8th grade, they have such good food."

"Ok and flower wise what does she like?"

Cass thought for awhile, "Oh, pink and white long stem roses. She loves em or just a single red rose... she only likes em when they are single."

"Okay, thanks," Lance replied.

"What a coincidence you said flowers!" Cass exclaimed, flailing her bad arm up in the air, "It's known for it's wonderful flower arrangements! Why don't you just steal her a flower from their arrangement?"

Lance started to laugh along with Cass, "Yeah, that's real romantic."

"Yeah, it is," Cass replied, getting into the green room to wait on the couch. Lance sat next to her and they both looked over at Justin, who seemed to be deep in thought at the other end of the couch.

"Yo J what's up?" Lance said.

"Britney broke up with me," he said quietly, "She said something about no one cares about our relationship anymore and that was it," he looked out the window, "I guess it all was a publicity stunt after all."
