Chapter 5

He looked over at her, "Hey Cass. What's up?" He slowly walked back to her and Smokey let her down, "Hey Smokey," Justin said.

"Hi," He said in a deep voice and walked to go sit down.

Justin walked with Cass back over to the pictures on the wall.

"So, why were you so called 'brain dead'?" Justin asked as he looked at a picture of when Dream was on TRL.

"Haven't you ever been awestruck by someone you really admire?" Cass asked him and Justin looked down at her. Even with her heels on, she felt 3 feet smaller than him, even if it was only about 3 inches.

"Yeah, I have," Justin finally replied, smiling, "That makes me feel really great that you admire me. All I do is sing."

"Yeah but if you could do it, so could a little Pennsylvania girl like me." "Wow you're from Pennsylvania... how'd you and Mandie meet?"

"Well, she was modeling in Pittsburgh-"

"Pittsburgh, so that's where you're from!" Justin exclaimed, interrupting.

"Well, anyway, she was modeling in Pittsburgh for charity at a hotel and me and my mom were on the way home from vacation, so we stopped in Pittsburgh because it was too late to drive the rest of the way home and we both were dead tired. The next day, we woke up to get breakfast and Mandie was just sitting at a table, eating her breakfast like she was just normal...I mean, my friend had told me a little bit about her and showed me what she looked like, so that's how I recognized her. So I walked up and started casual conversation with a bagel and jelly and somehow, I ended up singing for her, and there was karaoke there. It was seriously overnight success, I sing for karaoke, her manager walks up to me and asks me about a record deal and it all went from there."

"Wow! That is awesome... so what exactly is your difference in age?"

"She's 21 and I'm 16."

"Oh really?" Justin said looking at her and smiling.

"Well I gotta get goingI need to get ready you know," she turned around to walk to Smokey, "Let's go big guy," She said humorously.

"See you later, Tiny," Smokey called back to Justin.

"I thought Tiny was Chris," Cass asked him strangely.

"You kidding? Girl, he's 'Giant'," Smokey laughed and Cass looked over her shoulder at Justin's smile. Then she turned back to Smokey, "You could get addicted to that smile."

Mandie met them in the dressing room, "Guess what Cass?"

"Who?" Cass said jokingly.

"I saw Carson and told him I was here with you and he asked me to come on with you," Mandie smiled.

"Yay!" Cass screamed, "And while you were fixing your makeup, me and Justin talked."

"Or do you mean he talked, you stared," Mandie laughed.

"Shut up bitch," Cass replied, starting to laugh, "No, we talked. I ended up telling him how I got discovered. Do you remember that?"

"Yeah, actually, wasn't that in July?" Mandie asked.

"Yep, don't tell me you don't remember that," Cass suddenly got annoyed.

"Of course I do," Mandie replied.

"God you really are a bitch," Cass went up to slap her but Smokey stepped in the middle.

"Sorry Cass not today. Mandie has a photo shoot tomorrow, we can't have her bruised."

"Oh, I was just joking, Smokey!" Cass started to laugh with no humor behind it.

"Come on Cass, I wouldn't say you were joking the last time you hit me," Mandie spat back to her.

"I'm a wuss! How could I have given you a huge bruise on your cheek?"

"Believe me, your slaps work wonders, more than you think."

"Let's just leave this," Cass blew it off and went into her dressing room and slammed the door shut.

"Well, that went wellI was supposed to tell her I'm going to Paris... and now she probably wont talk to me," Mandie started to cry and walked over to the green couch and put her head in her hands.

"Come on, you know she gets like this sometimes, she's really being overworked," Smokey wrapped his strong arms around Mandie's fragile crying figure.

"Sometimes they need to leave us the fuck alone!" Mandie yelled into her hands and then lifted her tearstained eyes to Smokey, who was trying to make her feel better.

"She'll get over it," Smokey replied and Mandie wiped her tears away, "Then again, you're going to need some work."

"I just redid my make-up! Well, back to square one," she started reapplying, "I don't know if I can take on Paris yet... I can't believe they asked me."

"How long have you known?"

"A week...and I want Cass to be happy to me... but she won't if she doesn't talk to me again," Mandie felt a small tear run down her cheek again, "Shit don't start Mandie," she yelled at herself when Cass walked in the room.

"Mandie, this stupid shit with my sleeping patterns has nothing to do with you," Cass stated, "I'm just cranky because of exhaustion. I wouldn't be surprised if I passed out on TRL."

"I'm sorry," Mandie sniffed, wiping more tears away, "I just get overemotional."

"And what is this about Paris?"

"Fuck, you heard," Mandie ran a hand through her hair, "I got offered a job in Paris and I don't know if I wanna take it...I mean I don't want to be far away from you... you're like a sister to me and I promised your mom I would take very good care of you and well if I'm in Paris I cant do that," Mandie started to cry again.

"Wow, you got offered a job in Paris?!?!?!?" Cass exclaimed, "I think you should definitely take it! I mean, it's the opportunity of a lifetime."

"But what about you? I mean, I promised almost everyone I know I'd take care of you," Mandie started sobbing again.

"Mandie, I'm not a baby, I can partially take care of myself, I got a manager that I barely see, and I can get bodyguards, you don't have to worry about me."

"Well, I still feel like I need you there for emotional support. I mean, you are like a little sister to me."

"Okay, I'll come for a week, but I can't stay long, I've got work to do over here for my album."

"I really don't think I'm ready for the big time yet anyways, Cass."

"Of course you are... you're more then ready."

"Are you sure?" Mandie wiped her tears and hugged her 'Little Sis'.

"Oh hell yeah! How can you doubt yourself so much? You are star material!" Cass said when they pulled away.

"You should talk. You've got that amazing voice that you're afraid for people to hear?!? You're insane!"

"Yeah, thanks, people have always called me that," Cass smiled.

"What a nice sisterly moment," they heard a male voice at the door.

Mandie and Cass both turned around and both screamed, "Justin!"
