7. I see you guys do a cover of "Steppin' Out", by Joe Jackson. I haven't been able to hear it yet, but I'm familiar with the original. How did doing this one come about?

>Dave and Sean stumbled upon it and were like, "This is exactly what we're doing right now...synth and piano and not too aggressive, but still kind of rocking".  It was like we finally had something for people to compare us too other than the easy way out Ben Folds Five.

Although some people might not notice because you might be a little overlooked by the rest of the roster, your on Vagrant Records, which is one of the really big up-and-coming labels. Saves The Day is playing with Weezer, Dashboard Confessional has blown up, The Get Up Kids are certainly known, and the Paul Westerberg signing, what's it like being on this label? I know myself, I'd like to see you guys on MTV2, do you think a video will come with the new album?

>Yes, all this is true, and very exciting to be a part of.  The fact that the roster is so much more diverse now will definitely help us a lot.  We're making a less threatening record to people who might only like their rock with guitars.  It will be a lot less synth crazy, as Sean's playing can never really be duplicated. I hope that we turn in a solid record and the label feels it is worth their attention and work, which ultimately would be the factor if a video is to be made.

I hear a lot of how bands get the option to sign to a major label and it's hard for them to choose between the major and "selling out" and the indies. I know those terms are little over-the-edge, and not really fair.  What do you guys think about majors and indie labels. Does it really even matter what label your on? Any preferences?

>I see both sides in the argument, and to be honest don't really dwell on it.  I know indie labels that market their acts the same way that major labels do.  It is a business, and all you can really hope is that the people you work with enjoy what you do enough to give you a fair shake.

10.
Speaking of other bands, are there any bands out there that you are really getting into, or really enjoy?

>Of course...I'm always into other bands.  New bands I listen to include Mercury Rev, Wilco, The Hives, and Chemical Brothers (note this is just a couple of a massive list and not ranked in priority). Old stuff I love and never tire of is Velvet Underground, ELO, Chicago, and the list could go on forever.

11.
On a closing note, when this new record comes out, will you basically be touring non-stop for what seems like forever? I hope so, I still haven't seen you guys live, and I heard your live show was great.

>Yes, Koufax will be a full time touring machine, provided everything goes as planned.  The live show for the last record was so much more energetic than the actual recording, people responded much better to us live. The new record is going to find a better balance in that regard.  Truth be told, we've just finally learned how to be in a working band.
