WORTH MY WHILE

"hiiheiiSSSH! ehISShoo! ehh" Obi-Wan drew in a slow, careful breath through his mouth. He held the breath as his lips remained parted and his nostrils flared at the tickle that hovered around them. "heh heh," he let some of the breath out in two shallow pants, reared his head back and then lowered it with a full, wet 'eiissshSHOO!' Blinking and sniffling, he let the tickle work itself back up into another sneeze, this time holding a handkerchief in front of his face to catch the sneeze. "itchisshishSHOO!" The long, wet sneeze led to a long, wet nose blow. Obi-Wan cleared his nose as best he could, leaned back into his seat, then gave a sigh of relief.

"Bless you," Qui-Gon murmured, his arm moving around Obi-Wan's shoulders. The small cabin they had on the transport was private, which was good. It was also cold, which was not. Qui-Gon's arm felt warm and reassuring as he hugged Obi-Wan closer to him. "I think, perhaps, you were standing in the snow at the spaceport for a bit too long."

"I think you might be right. Ah, oh my nose..." Obi-Wan rubbed his nose into the hanky again, snuffling at the same time to get the itchy sensation to go away. What had been runny nose seemed to have quickly developed into a full-blown cold in the nose after having waited in the snow for transport back to Coruscant. The cold and damp hadn't bothered him much as he was waiting and it had seemed best to wait outside for the first transport home. Obi-Wan pressed his nose more firmly to the hanky, moved it back and forth, and got ready for another sneeze. "hihih, h'h'hISssshoo, TSSShoo! oh, itchy," he muttered, sniffling and snuffling into his hanky before blowing his nose.

"Bless you." Qui-Gon tightened the hug again, the tone of his voice starting to sound anxious. "Perhaps perhaps we should have waited to travel. Your cold sounds like it's getting bad."

When Obi-Wan looked at Qui-Gon, he immediately leaned up and brushed his lips over the frown on his lover's. "No I know you want to be home for Solstice this year. If it's important to you, it's important to me."

He was slow to do so, but Qui-Gon eventually smiled and returned the little kiss. "I shall have to take very good care of you to make traveling in a chilly transport worth your while."

"I'll be home for Solstice, which I'll get to spend with you. That makes it worth my while." Snuggling up against Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan gave his mate another kiss. A series of tickly, wet sniffles prevented him from getting any closer.

"Even with an itchy nose?"

Obi-Wan pondered as he took care of his sniffles. He finally nodded in agreement when Qui-Gon put both arms around him in a warm embrace. "I've traveled under worse conditions," he replied and, when he saw Qui-Gon's smile, he knew he'd travel under much worse conditions to see it again.
